Check spark plugs or spark pug wires. These are the most common issues with no spark. 2. check all fuses. 3. check ground or battery cables. If ground is bad it can cause a no spark. Motor turns? or ROTORs TURN? If motor turns your getting spark.

If all the gauges are dead I would suspect a ground. I once swapped an engine and forgot a body ground wire and it would crank over but the gauges were dead and it wouldn't start.
If there is no spark, it could also be the ignition module. I had that fail on my vw rabbit and the result was no spark.

Check the crank sensor

if you have no spark its going to be due to a bad crankshfft sensor. it will also affect other things on the car as well.

SOURCE: car not starting

This car has anti-theft system in it. The key is "special" in that it has a chip inside that is programmed to work only with that car. Get a new key, recently? See the dealer for help...accordianman

No spark. got fuel. no start. going on the etm grounding pin 3 no audibly fuel pump. pump runs with jumper wire from fuse panel. start position it has fuel . just how to start other car

check ignition coil, distributor cap and rotor and spark plug wires. Check the rotor good I had a car that would not start and we couldn't figure it out cause all looked well but the screw that holds the rotor in place had fallen out so the car would crank but since the rotor didn't turn to send a spark to ignite the gas the car would not start.

Cranking over but wont start

If you smell fuel in the exhaust, then you can assume the fuel pump is working. Spark at the coil is fine but do you have spark to the plugs? It sounds like you have an older car with a cap and rotor. You might have a bad cap or rotor. It might just be flooded, in which case pulling and cleaning the spark plugs would help.

Replaced bad fuel pump, installed new relay and fuel filter, engine turns over but is not firing on..... positive the fuel pump is pumping gas and checked to see if gas was going thru fuel filter. Tried...

Hi, Ok you have confirmed that it's not a fuel problem. You need to check for spark. Pull the coil wire off of the coil(secondary lead-looks like a spark plug wire) Have some one crank it over and listen for a popping sound. IF yes, spark is at the coil, that means all ignition sensors are working. Next check for spark at ends of wires after cap. IF no replace cap and rotor. IF yes remove a couple spark plugs and check for fouling(wet, fuel etc...) IF yes replace or clean plugs and retest for starting. IF no spark is present at coil you need to scan computer and watch for rpm signal. IF no rpm signal, replace crankshaft sensor with OEM delco part. BIGGEST problem with these engines is Cap and Rotor burn out.

Motor turns but will not start

You need fuel, air, and fire to start the car. Make sure you check the fuel components. Make sure they work. Fuel pump, filter, lines, injectors, pump fuse/relay. Fuel goes from the pump to the filter, from the filter through the gas lines and then to the engine. Make sure gas is getting through. If the gas checks out, make sure you are getting spark. It could be spark plugs/coils, wires, coil pack, distributor, dist.cap, rotor, cam sensor, crank sensor, ecm. You need to do a spark test. Check your timing belt/chain. Anyone of these can cause your car not to start. I know it is a lot. That is why it is important to check for gas and spark. Make sure you check all your wires, connections, and hoses. Make sure there is no intake leaks. If you have any questions, please let me know.

My 89 mazda 323 turns over but wont start

Last week my 323 89' Mazda stop working as I was driving it in middle of the street, I pushed to the side. it would not start, the starter sounded ok, but the car just didnt start, I checked the fuses, gas pump, and all seemed to be ok, finally with the help of a friend we found out that the ignition rotor at the distributor wasnt working we then replace it with a new one from autozone , is about 5 dollars, now it works just fine, big problem easy solution.
