My 1999 ford escort is not getting enough gas to the engine

Your going to want and check fuel pressure to see if its in spec. If fuel pressure is low...I would check for a restriction.. like a plugged fuel filter or weak fuel pump.

My escort just died driving and I was told it could be and MAP sensor but I cant find it anywhere

It doesn't have a map sensor, it has a maf (mass air flow) and it would not cause it to just die. It is more likely that the fuel pump or timing belt failed. Check for compression, spark, and fuel pressure. This will tell you enough to determine where the problem really is.

I have a nice example of a 1.6 ford escort, 97. When I accelerate it is as if I am running out of petrol....holding back but then going too, until speed is picked up. I have tried new plugs. No air leaks...

Either your fuel filter is bad - or fuel pump - acts like fuel filter/pump problem. One other thing to check is the timing / distributor and be sure the inner gasket on the distributor is intact and not allowing oil inside the unit to short it out. 83dfcd4.jpg

93 ford escort starts okay. but dies at stops

I would start with the fuel filter. It sounds to me that you are not getting enough pressure through the filter to open the injectors. If that is not it, move on to the spark plugs, plug wires, air cleaner, etc......May need a good tune up. Then, worst case scenerio, catalytic converter may be getting plugged up.

No acceleration after 45/50 mph

I would investigate a clogged fuel filter or weak fuel pump. May just not be getting enough gas to go faster....

Don't forget to check the air filter. Dirty air filter will usually cause issues at lower speeds too but can't be ruled out.

Problem starting 1999 escort. has fuel, spark, timinging is dead on the money. acts like it will start but wont

Check the air mass meter or air mass sensor, also the crack sensor can cause this fault.

EGR valve but the car will normally still start with that fault. most common is the air mass sensor, you can just try and clean it first and check the wires to the sensor its most likely the air mass sensor or air related fault.

Acceleration problems. bogs down when accelerating. acts like its not getting enough air

Have you checked the filter and box I had one that rats or squirrels got in and built a nest. Pull the breather hose and see what you get.Could be clogged fuel injectors and getting too much air and not enough fuel???

Good luck!!!
