What i normally do if i can hear the pump running is make a spray bottle of soapy water and start spraying the air bags and hoses of the air suspension you will see the suds foam up where ever you have an air leak

SOURCE: Land Rover Range Rover

u can use a compressor to lift the car, manually insert to air pipe. if there is no leak in the system the car will stay up. but this for emergency only.

u need to send the car to workshop for proper repair.

the reason u cannot lift the car is pump is faulty, leak in the system, relay problem.

SOURCE: I have a land Rover bottle jack that will not lift

Hi:
There are only a couple things to check on your bottle jack. If you have made sure the valve is completely closed, and there is no visible leakage, then the jack will need taken in for repair. There are shops in my area that service jacks and lifts, and can put new seals in the cylinder. If you did see signs of leakage, there is usually a small rubber plug that you can add more oil thru.

Where is the location of the transmission dipstick on 2005 Land Rover Freelander?

As far as I know, there is none. My 2002 Freelander has a combined fill/level plug about halfway up the IRD unit (the back one) and a similar one on the gearbox. Put the car up on on lift or otherwise get underneath it with a torch to locate it. Fill (awkwardly) from the engine bay until oil pours out and, as long as the car is level, the oil level should be correct.

Wont lift up on air it did and that day it slow lee went down and no wont lift up and the abs lihts on

Hi

It sounds like the ABS pump has failed, or possibly two unrelated faults, could be the ABS sensor causing the light to come on but might be the fuse in the ABS that has gone. Its worth checking these two things first as they are cheaper.

Dan

I have a 04 range rover that the front left air suspension wont lift. No fault light is on? Any ideas?

It could be that the pipe from the air pump is defect it could also be that the air spring ( strut assembly ) is broken.

I have replaced fuel filter in range rover and i cannot get air out of diesel fuel? and it now not starting straight away

When you replaced the fuel filter, was it half empty of fuel ? if it was , then its the fuel lift pump thats faulty. Rotate the engine till the cam allows a full stroke of the fuel lift pump primer handle, check the amount of movement of the primer handle and feel of it, that is , can you feel it pulling fuel. If the movemnt is small, then you need to change the pump.

Does anyone know how to remove the front headrests from a 56 Reg Discovery TD6. Thanks

there are two types,1.squeeze the 1/2moon shaped piece of plastic at the bottom of the chrome stalk and push up(be careful its stiff) or 2.about 6"down the back of the seat top in line with the chrome stalk, press in a hidden button(you can feel it) and lift, again be careful, you may have to wiggle, side to side,to get them out,(if they are very stiff get someone in the back seat to lift/wiggle.

hi, this is due to a couple of things. 1 is this a p36 or p38.
things like the door sensors will prevent this from lifting, its to stop it crushing your leg when foot is out.
more than likely there are 2 hieght correctors.
depends on the model. i see these where leg pops out, i get them in where a air bag has popped off, loosing all your air.
when its a p38 and lifted, if u dont push the button on the dash the computer gets confused and wont let it lift, this then needs a reset. i have lifted a lot of range rovers and the p38 is the worst, i use a 2 post lift, u got to push button on dash, this tells it its getting jacked up or lifted. i have forgot to push it a couple of times, a air bag drops off, u need tough thumbs to push it on.
listen to see if the compressor is running when running.
you must open bonnet start engine then shut door making sure all doors are shut, there is a box think it says eas (black box) you can take the cover to see it pumping, u will hear it.
if not you and none of this whats mentioned is at fault u have to have it 1 plugged in or 2 reset. hope this helps u. 1 more suggestion, im not sure about a p36, is the button on the dash on, orange light on, this locks the suspension for lifting, when down wont go up.
get back to me how u got on, i will have another think. im sure the sensor on axle.
