Question about Cars & Trucks
I had asimilar problem with my 2.4 quad4 grand am it would miss when I stopped at a stop light but when driving ran fine I thought the problem was with the ignition too so I changed out the coil ignition module assembly but still the same I spoke wth my nephew he had a problem like this and he went alot farther to find the core problem he changed coil ignition module assembly not fixed yet changed timing chain still not fixed compression tested found a burnt exhaust valve
with that information Iwas determined to fix my grand am so I pulled off the intake manifold assuming Iwould remove the engine for rebuild did a compression test all cylinders were the same ruling out any problem with the valves had to do some research and learned more about how the injectors are contrlled by the ECM engine contrl module wich gets signals from sensors for fuel mix engine timing and engine idle speed
the oxygen sensor for fuel mix engine coolant temp sensor knock sensor mass air flow sensor or manifold absolute pressure and throttle position sensor the ecm gets info concerning engine rpm shift lever position power steering and air conditioning
with that being said I had checked the coolant level and put some injector cleaner in the gas tank after assembling engine had drove the car some more and the problem went away

That looks like the Quad Four derived(2.4 liter?).They have a "coil on plug' design-the early Quad Fours were one of the first with this design. It sounds like one of the coils is going bad, causing a miss under load(or it just gets worse under load).Change the ignition coils and plugs(under the large cast aluminium cover on top).

Is it a timing issue?
Would you like someone on the internet to guess at an answer?
I would think you would have done some testing & asked something
else & provided a more technical question, of what was tested so far & how
