SOURCE: My Chevy 2002 Tahoe is leaking oil. They told me

this truck is equipped with an aluminum oil pan you could have 1 or several things going on... a stripped drain plug which is causing it to leak or it may be a leaking front seal or a rear main seal. If it is a front seal it is not to labor intensive. But if it is a rear main seal leaking it will require the transmission to be removed since the seal is a 1 piece rear main

The engine has to be supported and the cradle under the engine has to be removed. After everything is reinstalled the front end has to be realigned.

Take it to a different shop and get a second opinion. It might need a complete rebuild, or it could be that a head gasket is shot, or one of the heads is cracked. Have them do a compression test and a computer diagnostic. Just guessing at an answer can get expensive.

Yep, it is pretty difficult, and that's a decent price range that you were quoted. There is a lot of stuff in the way.

Car goes into failsafe mode; codes p2110 and p2107

Bad ignition coil, spiking the PCM,spike comes back on TPS Sensor, then to PCM again, putting the car into ETC Failsafe, and you can only go 6 MPH.

If the coils are not the issue, then the 2110 & 2107 come into play, and you spend $700,00 just for a new throttle body. The motor in it is not replaceable as of 2010,may be some day
In that case you better put it on yourself. Only (4) 10mm bolts, but you have to drain a little coolant,as it goes thru the throttle housing

Head gasket on sunfire

It's one of the more difficult and picky tasks. If you torque them down wrong, it's a waste of time and money. You can screw up the new gasket and warp the heads very easily. Have the heads machined whether they need it or not. And just as important, follow the book, step by step. Good luck, you're going to need it.

02 Grand Cherokee, 4.7l need new starter, quoted at $448 for parts and labor sound right??

I show the following for the part:
BOSCH Part # SR6423X moreinfo.gif {Remanufactured Starter) $150.00 US at, so the price u where quoted is way high, get the part yourself, if the shop does it they double the cost of the part and pass it on to u, standard pratice in all shop's.

Engine light on 2000 camry

Buy a gasket and take the old valve off, clean the gunk out of it with carb cleaner, put it back on with the new gasket and you just spent $10. If the code pops again, buy a new EGR valve, $160 at Advance Auto. Then, report the shop who quoted you $795 to the BBB.

Oil loss and code 1806 on my 2001 cadillac el dorado

i believe what you mean is a P1860 code? There is no P1806. The code is for a torque converter clutch pulse width solenoid, which is an internal electrical part of the transmission, it is a pretty labor intensive job, and you could actually end up needing a full transmission. that and the oil pan gasket could lead to a heafty bill, if its worth it to fix is up to your and your financial situation really, ask yourself if you can buy a different car with the money that you are quoted for the work.

1995 gt wagon playing up...

sadly my man it sounds like a head gasket. any good mechanic would have recommended checking this first especially being a subaru (quite common). get a compression test done. and see if there is a white "foam" in your oil. if so the news is all bad. sorry but hope this helps
