Question about 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier Coupe
I have a 2002 Chevy Cavilier. The car starts fine but the key does not return to the "On" position after the engine starts. After alot of jiggling it will drop into "on" and all is well. What do I replace? The Switch and tumbler?
I would say the switch and not the lock cylinder. The switch should have a spring to return the lock back to on.

had the same problem. try to get some graphite powder with the small applicator tube and squirt some in your ignition assembly. sometimes this loosens it up

With the title and an insurance card your dealer can cut a new key by the VIN if you have never replaced the lock cylinder before. If not it will be remove the column covers, drill out the lock and try not to damage the lock housing. Good Luck

SOURCE: i replaced key and tumbler
usually when u replace that you need to relearn the security system for it to start,,,,try to turn the key till the starter hits then release and leave it in the run position for 10 minutes, then turn the key off for 30 seconds and then repat this 3 times and then after the last time turn the key off for 2 minutes and then try to start it,,thats the manual way to relearn the key abd lock,,if that dont wokr take it to the dealer
