There is a brake switch located at the upper portion of the pedal, these switches can come loose and fall towards the driver, when they do the brake lights will come on and remain on. The switch is activated when the pressure is released from the end of the plunger

Look for a short on the LG/R wire coming out of the BOO (brake on/off) switch.

SOURCE: how to reset brake caliper

The pistons in all calipers I have seen can be forced back into their seat to allow new brake pads to clear. If constructed as most, a C-clamp can be used to press the cylinder back in.

1993 ford taurus will not come out of park, brake lights won't come on even with new fuse

You likely have a broken wiring harness at the brake light switch connector under the dash above the brake pedal. You can buy a replacement stub harness from Ford parts.

1988 ford taurus wagon chimes everytime i go 45+ mph and the speed light flashes... what's wrong?

You probably have the speed reminder set to 45mph. It chimes & flashes to let you know you are speeding. It will tell you how to adjust it in your owners manual. If you don't like it set it high eg: 100mph. then it won't happen.

E brake light won't turn off after I release the e

There is usually a float in the master cyl resivoire. It is poss low on fluid. You either have a leak, low fluid or pads worn out. The fluid will go in to the cylinders of the calipers when the pads are replaced the piston on the caliper gets pressed back in the caliper forcing the fluid back in to the master cil resivoire turning off the light. Please don't fool around with safety items on our car. Have them checked by a licensed technician.

2000 Ford Taurus Wagon. Driver side rear caliper is not releasing fully. All pads and calipers were replaced at the same time. Notice diver side caliper sticking replaced and still sticks. Replaced brake...

I remember that each caliper is pushed back by "Rollout" after the brakes are pressed. If the caliper is harder to move it my not push back. May have to change O-ring seals on caliper.

Hope this helps.

good Luck
