This problem can be caused by a lack of fuel or spark or other things but lets start with these, try spraying starting fluid into throttle and then try to start car, if it starts and dies out then we know it is a fuel problem, like a bad fuel pump.try that and let me know the results.

What could kill 40% of the battery and still don't start

New battery may or may not have been fully charged.

When you say, "still don't start", does the engine turn over, but not catch, or does it just click? Or what? "doesn't start" has many different causes and different symptoms.

2005 hyundai tucson 2.0L engine rebuild with new bearings, timing belt and chain. Also new pisitons rings. when trying to start engine it would not catch. spark is fine on all wires and engine is turning...

If the timing chain is off one tooth it will be hard to start. Check the coil and make sure you getting a good spark. Also make sure yor battery is good and your alternator is putting out at least 13.6 volts or more.

2005 Chevy Aveo, clicks but start won't catch and when jumped it doesn't charge what could it be??

Your alternator is not charging the Battery, I would replace the battery with a new gel battery and have the alternator checked, bets on your battery just died.

My battery acts dead when ever i try to start the vehicle. the battery is new and the starter is new. once it starts it trys to stall out. i've had to jump start it recently and now it starts right away...

Your description is not very clear--do you mean that the starter does not turn the engine over at times or that the engine turns over but does not "catch"? Or, does nothing happen at all when you turn the key?

In any case, it sounds as though you have a loose or damaged cable or a corroded connection at the battery or a ground.

Won't Start

try the altornator if it is out than the truck will not start you can take it out and most auto stores will test it for you before you buy a new one... if thats not it then it is more than likely the starter. turns over but will not catch.

Car turns over, but engine won't "catch" ... If i let it "rest for awhile, and try restarting it usually will start. Battery is new, filter new,...?????

either the main relay under the dash above the fuse box or the ignition switch in the steering column (the solder in both of these components can be affected by high temp int the car, when it cools down, the electrical connection works again.
