There are many things that will cause this problem, could be a fuel pump or pump relay, mass air flow sensor etc,

The best thing to do first would be to go to an auto parts store that does scanning. have the computer scanned and see if there are any stored codes, if so get the codes and let me know what they are.

Still need the codes.
Injectors can go "bad" in a couple of different ways; all they are is an electromagneticaly controlled nozzle. When the ECU "fires" the injector, it pulses a ground circuit for 4-8 milliseconds, the electromagnet powers up, the valve at the bottom of the injector opens, and the fuel shoots out, under pressure. The wire can be bad/chafed/corodded/ The electromagnet may be weak. The nozzle may be stuck. Lots of things. But, to put in an injector for a number 4 cylinder misfire (p-0304 code) would be one of the last things that I would do.

It could be electric fuel pump stall. The pump isn't pumping fuel fast enough. This model may have a inline fuel filter before the fuel pump as well that might need replacing.

SOURCE: accelaration loss of power

I'd have a fuel pressure test done to be sure, it isn't fuel related again. Takes 5 or 10 minutes so cost should be minimal. The other thing that comes to mind is a plugged exhaust. (catalytic converter) Quite possible on a 10yr.old vehicle.

my 89 cutlass did the same thing....She would bog down ( when the service engine light came on)....Light would go off and she would run fine...Shop replaced fuel fiter and KNOCK SENSOR, runs great now, the service engine light stays off too. Ran a can of MG injector cleaner thru too.

I have a 2001 Pontiac Montana minivan that is misfiring stalling and cutting out. I put in fuel additive thinking it might be the injectors and premium gasoline . Could this be a bad fuel filter?

It could be a timing issue (misfire) but it absolutely could also be either air or fuel filter. If it's starving for fuel, it's the fuel filter. If it's starving for air (too rich), it would also stall out and that could be the air filter. Basically, you need 4 things to make an engine work: compression, air, fuel, and spark.
