I had a similar problem on my 2003 VW Jetta. The airbag light lit and would not go off. If it's the same problem, you have to take it in for servicing and the tech has to turn it off.

I think it's a way for them to get you to come in for a "recommended" service if you ask me. They said it was dangerous, but it is your airbag...

How do I turn off airbag light

DO NOT TURN IT OFF! It is indicating that there is possibly something wrong with your airbag deployment system. Get to a certified (where air bags are concerned) mechanic and have it checked out. PLEASE, do it SOON!

Do the airbags and seatbealt deploy in a accident if you dont apply brakes?

Yes, absolutely if the ignition key is turned in "ON" position!
No matter if you apply or not the car brakes, the airbags and seatbelts deploy in a accident if the ignition key is turned in "ON" position. The Airbag system is completely independent from the brake system.

My airbag came on after temping with fuses

If your airbag deployed, then you have to replace it. here is a link to a website that sells replacements. I do not have any affiliation with them, Just know of them from a previoius search when I was considering a purchase of a used vehicle that had deployed airbags.

Airbag light recently came on? 2004 hyundai tiburon

It should come on when you first start the car, then go off after a few seconds (to show that the lamp is working). If it stays on, you have a problem somewhere in the system. It could be the sensor behind the front bumper, it could be a loose wire or bad connection to the airbag itself. You need to take this to your dealer (or other trusted repair shop) and have it repaired, this is not a do-it-yourself job. If the repairs are not done correctly, it could cause the airbag to deploy when it should not (causing much damage) or not deploy when it should (adding to your injuries in a crash.) The lamp indicates that the airbag will (most likely) not deploy in a collision.

2002 jetta tdi airbags problems

It is not supposed to be possible for the airbags to deploy when the car isnt moving. Sounds like the car had a defective airbag system, Just be grateful it never blew up while you were behind the wheel. If it were me I would contact VW and see if they are willing to help you. And if you decide to replace the airbags, I would fight like crazy with the insurance company to have every aspect of the airbag system replaced(all sensors and computers associated with it). If you are in America, your state has an attorney generals office, If no one is willing to work with you, A friendly and concise letter to the attorney general usually straightens everyone up.

The airbag on the passenger side deployed for no reason on my 2003 Jetta. Dealer wants 4500.00 to fix Any recommendations?

If it deployed for no reason, that indicates a potential safety problem. Report it in writing to the U.S. Highway traffic safety Bureau, and the Department of consumer affairs. Make sure you copy the local dealer and the Volkswagen Headquarters.

you might be able to obtain a CarFax report with the details. Also - depending on the location etc of the accident you should be able to obtain a police report that indicates if airbags deployed.
