Problem with 2003 GMC Sonoma Extended Cab

Will a evap 442 code cause a truck to have no drive power (hesataion after take-off)

I found out my problem, It was my catalatic converter. That thing was pluged up. I cut it out, welded in a piece of exhaust pipe & it took care of my problem. The truck runs great now.
Thank you for all your inputs to my problem. I hope this may help someone else .

Car drives good but high rpm at 60 mph rpm is like 3000

Does your car have an overdrive or economy mode? 3000 is about right if you're going uphill at 60, your car is under heavy load or your not in overdrive. It could also be that your car hasn't shifted up to the next gear. On many automatics you can stomp on the gas pedal twice quickly, all the way to the floor, and that will make it up shift. Try that to see if that lowers the rpm's and gets it to shift up. If your car still wont up shift check the transmission fluid level with the car warmed up and running.

simple tune up could do it, or a bad MAF or MAP sensor could give similar problems

Stick shift # Automatic RPM

That is normal,If you do the same speed in 4th gear the rpm's will almost double.

The rpm's will repond faster in a manual than an automatic.

In a manual the engine supplies the power required directly to the gear that you have selected thus the engine rpm's will increase or decrease as needed.

one unit that operates ratio changes and is connected to the engine is that vacuum operated actuator on the transmission
it is possible that that unit is failing , vacuum hose is leaking and that will cause ratio changes as the vacuum varies
run the fault codes to check for wiring problems or VSS or TCM problems as well
