Problem with 2003 GMC Sonoma Extended Cab

Will a evap 442 code cause a truck to have no drive power (hesataion after take-off)

I found out my problem, It was my catalatic converter. That thing was pluged up. I cut it out, welded in a piece of exhaust pipe & it took care of my problem. The truck runs great now.
Thank you for all your inputs to my problem. I hope this may help someone else .

P0442 and p0449

. The P0449 will cause the P0442. This is a very common problem with the newer GMT-800 series GM trucks! What happens is there is a EVAP canister vent solenoid that is used by the PCM (powertrain control module) for testing the integrity (for leaks) in the EVAP system. What happens is the vent solenoid filter is located in the wheel house (unfortunately) and of course picks up rain when driven and it corrodes the vent solenoid plunger and when commanded ON (closed) it will not seal if it operates at all! This valve is located: above the left hand frame rail by the fuel tank and the vent hose runs with the filler pipe to the top of the pipe. Also check the CNSTR VENT SOL or 4WS (however it is labeled on your application) fuse in the fuse block underhood this fuse sometimes blows as the solenoid shorts out. GM sells an upgraded valve and a relocated filter housing.NOTE: A gas cap is not going to cause a CIRCUIT problem!! try changing gas cap for po442 start cheap

P0449 and P0455 error code 2008 2wd gmc envoy 30,203 miles

P0449 - Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Valve/Solenoid Circuit Malfunction

P0455 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (no purge flow or large leak)

Both are refer at EVAP system; other EVAP DTCs: P0440 - P0441 - P0442 - P0443 - P0446 - P0453 - P0455 - P0456

This indicates a fuel vapor leak or lack of purge flow in the EVAP control system. It means a large leak has been detected. The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.

Symptoms: You likely won't notice any drivability problems.
Causes: most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system

Possible Solutions: the most common repair is to:
Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary

Hope helps.

P0442 is a evap problem
P0449 is a vent solenoid

i would check the vent solenoid first its a 4ws fuse under the hood in the fuse box make sure you have power to it you should have power at all times the ground comes from the pcm i think if you fix this everything else will work they are all computer controled
