SOURCE: 95 saturn sl 2 5 speed manual transmission, clutch

This vehicle has a pair of shift cables which attatches to the shifter and runs to the transmission shift housing. To diagnose, removal of the center console is in order so you can inspect and verify the shifter/cable connections and movement, then verify the cables move the linkages properly at the transmission . These cables are a fairly common failed part and sold as the set, these are a dealer item and no aftermarket cables are available .

SOURCE: Vibration through the car Transmission-motor Linkage?

Check to make sure both headlights are tight,,,when it rattles at idle go feel the headlight and hold it and see if the noise and vibration goes away, sometimes the headlight has too much clearance and causes a massive vibration,,if thats not it try...loosening all the motor mounts and rock the car back and forth and them retighten them,it reseetles the mounts and sometimes fixes the issue,,also check the lower engine and trans mounts for wear.

SOURCE: support engine and remove top motor mount for belt

The best way is to rent an engine hoist, you don't want to support the engine with a jack and a block of wood, you could crack what ever the jack is supported on, and if the engine moves, you will never get it lined up with the mount.

My 95 rodeo idles ok but when I put it in gear it starts to vibrate. what could this be?

What is the RPM while in gear? Too low and it will vibrate. Also check for weak/broken motor mounts which will cause a vibration in gear

On a 1999 SL Saturn how many motor mounts and transmission mounts can be replaced

There are 3 mounts. top engine mount, which is the easiest to replace. The other two require a lift, tools and muscle.

A bad top engine mount causes vibrations on the font end and dash. The tools to replace a floor jack, wood block, sockets, replacement bolts and new mount.

You could have a vacuum hose disconnected or a hole in a vacuum hose. See my "How To" on finding a vacuum leak.

94 geo prizm has excessive engine vibration at idle and when driving

I have two vehicles that are 1993. When they get that old, rubber starts to dry rot. I have had the same problem on my 1993 Dodge Intrepid. My problem lies in the motor mounts and the transmission mounts. After replacing these items, it runs like a champ.

You can visually determine if you motor mounts are dry rotted. Look under the hood and, with a flashlight, look on either side of the motor. There should be a crossmember running parallel to the axles. On this crossmember will be two (one on either side) large rubber pieces sitting inside a metal holder. These are your motor mounts. If they are cracked and split, they need replacing. Also, if you can run your fingers across one and your fingers turn black, it is not oil... it's rubber powder.

Conclusion: If your motor mounts are dry and cracked, then so are your transmission mounts. You'll want to have them replaced by a professional. If installed by a novice or my a "Mom & Pop" garage, your new mounts may split under stress caused by improper installation... a headache you do not want.

Good Luck!

When stationary and slowly turning left, left hand wheel vibrates.

I would normally say that you perhaps have a CV joint going out, or even the possibility of having a brake caliper that's sticking, but you're saying that the driver's side wheel vibrates? I'm guessing that you're referring to the front driver's side wheel. However, I don't understand how it would be vibrating while sitting still. If you have a vibration while also sitting still it's possible that you have a motor mount that's bad. Most of today's motor mounts have a rubber insert to help to deaden any possible vibrations that the motor might have. Over time, these rubber inserts tend to break down, crack and eventually fall out of the mount altogether. Make sure to check this, as having your motor rocking back and forth under the hood, even just a little bit, will eventually cause further issues if not tended to. If your motor mounts are good, then I'd most likely refer back to the first couple of possibilities that I mentioned. Hope this proves to be helpful and have a nice morning!
