Change gas filter

is this a Carburator motor or a fuel injection system...if carburator them the fuel filter will be at the end of the gas line going in to the carburator..if it is a fuel injection systam then it should be on drivers side some where in front of the rear wheel along side the frame will look like a bell

454 carburetor motor cranks will not start. New battery, electric fuel pump and has spark.

For carburator engines the common problem is the chock is to lean. Please follow this link. It shows how to adjust the chock position (page 8) carburator.
Also there is good trobleshoting table at page 22
Hope that helps
Good Luck

Carburator

Hi,

To my knowledge, the gas tank vent does not hook up to the carburator, it is just a means of escape for trapped air inside the gas tank, so normally it is just left hanging.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Running low on gas... car stalls thinking i ran out of gas ... put in a the 2 gallon red container... still no start then put on another 2 gallon and still nothing just clicking like it wants to.. but...

If its a Carburator car then

1.) press the the axcellerator straight down to the board
2.) tumble a few times.. and it should start.

other possiblities besides a flooded cab is

1.) drugs from the fuel tank clogged up the lines or the carburator
thiss will happen when its running low and if the tank is rusted inside.. very hard to detect without removing the tank..

2.) the fuel pump could be clogged up as well..

The clicking sound you might be hearing could possibly be the starter.. It may not have enough power to start. Check your battery to ensure its good. if the battery is dead you may need to get it charged or get a jumper cable and a jump. but for the battery to run dry means that the alternator isnt functioning propperly. once the car is started, remove the + battery pole while the car is idling and see if it stalls or cuts off. if it does get the alternator checked... Personally i'm betting its the battery.
