SOURCE: 1999 dodge neon

I had the same issue and it turned out to be grounding issues. by that I mean ALL of my grounds were rusted/loose/ too small wire/ ect.

To curb this issue i had to locate multiple grounding wires on the engine and that little wire running from the ground terminal to the front cross member was heating up because so much current draw through it- after locating grounding wires, Sanding the connections and using petroleum jelly AND replacing the ground terminal and Positive terminal the issue cleared up.

The only reason i knew it was ground issues on my car was finding that one chassis ground wire heating up from just running my car.

SOURCE: replaced coil pack on 2005 dodge neon but it still

Put a spark tester on the spark plug wire and see if there is any spark even coming to the plugs. If there isn't, you will need a qualified Tech to look at the problem...sometimes it is worth the price to have them diagnosis even if you decide to do the work latter, yourself.

If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Speedometer of 2003 dodge neon does not work and gas gauge is jumpy. replaced 2 input and output vss sensors and still won't work. no codes show on scanner

some of these have had problems with the dash assembly causing alot of problems with gauges and lights and speedometers.if there are no codes in the computer and weren`t any before you replaced the vss sensors then you spent money you didn`t need to.

How do you change the spark plugs in the 3.7 litter v6 and do i half to change the coil pacs to

change your spark plugs one at a time and make sure to gap them you can get a gaping tool at a auto parts store the plugs do already come pregapped but its always a good idea to check the gap before installing. you almost never have to replace the coil packs unless there is a problem with them.

2003 neon - when i shift it's "puttering" almost

who knows what your car needs. but if you have anywhere near 90k miles or if you know it has never been replaced. replace the timing belt, tensioner and water pump ASAP. If it breaks, the engine is trashed and a Neon isnt going to be worth a new engine.
