Question about 2002 Hyundai Accent
The rpms race to the extreme while idling in park. The revving conitnues so I usually shut the engine off or put the car into drive or reverse and it stops revving. It passed smog check, strangely, but its rpms went so high during the smog check I thought my car would explode. It has problems shifting gears when I need it to accelorate as well. When at a stop, I have to press down pretty hard on the brake to keep the car from surging forward. I have to slowly decelorate the car to come to a stop or else doing it quickly will cause the engine to shut off while driving. I have had the Throtte positining sensor replaced, so I know it can't be that.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I think I would seek a different opinion from a shop that has a good reputation. This sounds like 'make-work' to me. We have several shops in our area that are known for doing the same thing! Service costs are high enough with trying to gouge someone. Good luck!

It sounds to me like either your fluid level is very low (in which case, you need to find out why) or your transmission is toasted and it needs an overhaul.
