Question about 1984 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Cigarette lighter The cigarette lighter does not work on my '84 Accord and I would like to use it (actually its socket) for charging cell phone, IPod, etc. Is this part still available from Honda, or should I pursue junk yards? If the latter, can anyone recommend an online source? (The part is listed as 39600-SA5-672.) Thanks for any help.

I have a Honda Accord 2003 EX. Both of my power sockets are out. One is under the arm rest the other by the cigarette lighter. Could it be a fuse? If so which one and where is it?

Does your radio work... it's usually on the same fuse as your lighter.... just as easy to get a replacement socket from autozone or auto parts store

How can I change the cigarette lighter fuse in Toyota Avalon 2005?

Changing the fuse in the fuse box wont solve your problem On the back of the socket that is mounted in the dash that the lighter pushes into has a inline fuse that if over heated will blow. You will have to change the lighter. Toyota wanted close to $70 for a replacement lighter for my Tacoma. I never used the cigarette lighter for cigarett but needed to charge my cell phone so I replaced it with a dash Mount 12 Volt Power Socket for $10. Good luck.

You can purchase a specific charging socket extension at most car accessory outlets. It can be wired to the car's battery, or as an extension of another heavy load circuit such as the cigarette lighter and this is a very inexpensive item and is reasonably easy to instal.

My cigarette lighter will not work anymore. I need it to charge my GPS, Ipod, etc. how do I replace the fuse?

There is a fuse on the main fuse box within the car underdash and you can get access with a good flashlight. If the fuse is blown replace, if not check the rear connection of the cigarette lighter as the main +12 or the ground connection on the side of the lighter fittings could have ccome off.
remove and refit the connections.

The cigarette lighter socket (where you can plug in things such as your phone, iPod, etc.) is not working. It will not charge my Motorola phone or my iPod touch. Is there any way I can fix this? Model is...

Most likely it is your fuse, check yur fuse panel. Check your manual where fuse is. It should me marked as cigar, or cig or aux. I am sure it is justnthe fuse the blew. Happens all the time. Hope this helps, thanks mike.

Had cell phone and computer plugged into dual cigarette lighter unit and cigarette lighter overheated and quit working - we checked the fuse - it seems fine.Just want the cigarette lighter socket to work...

More than likely overheated the wiring going to the lighter as well and burned it off. If you pull the lighter socket out you should see if it did. Simply solder it back on and be careful not to overload it again.

Cigarette lighter not working properly in Pontiac...

This is a very common issue, either the ground at the back of the lighter socket is pulled off, or more likely the socket is defective, they are very easy to change, u can use a generic replacement from any parts store, the factory part will be at least 2X as much..

Cigarette lighter

YOU CAN PURCHACE A NEW 12V OUTLET AT ANY PARTS STORE. THEY ARE EASY TO INSTALL TOO. YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE DASH TRIM. TWIST THE HOUSING OF THE OLD ON TO THE LEFT AND IT WILL UNSCREW. REPLACE WITH A NEW ONE THE SAME WAY. THERE ARE ONLY TWO WIRES THAT WILL PLUG RIGHT IN.
