Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

I need to find replacement snaps for carhartt jacket/prefer same size .

I have a nice Carhart jacket without hood snaps on the collar . Also have a nice Carhartt hood . I need 4 male end snaps ; Carhartt size to apply to the collar . Does anyone know where I can find Carhartt size snaps ? I,m not sure how you measure these snaps. The O.D. of the male ends is 5/16" so I assume that is the size is 5/16" . Everywhere I go on the net they want to sell me 3/8"and bigger snaps or they don,t bother to give a size at all. I know I can change everything on the hood to 3/8" but wanted to keep it all original as some day my sone will inherit it. Any information as to where I can buy these would be kindly appreciated .... thanks Owen Jaggi owenjaggi@gmail.com

What size of water jacket is fitted to lancer 4G15 engine?

I'm unclear what you actually need to know. The 4G15 came with two radiator sizes, about 12" wide for cars without A/C, and about 22" wide for cars with A/C or automatic transmission.

The coolant capacity is 5 6 liters.

Where can i get the hood release cable fixed or can it be fixed? will it cost

Im taking a chance at answering this question . Because if you don't work on cars or other things like that you likely won't understand what im about to tell you . There is a problem with the luberation at the hood latch and likely you can't get that open at the moumant . This is basicly a disign problem . You have the release inside the vehicle that you pull on to open the hood there is a cable attached to it . The cable runs to the hood release mechinsam and it tends to streach if the release mechinsam is not moveing freely .The way to open the hood at this point is to take a pair of vice grips and clamp them on the cable from the inside of the vehicle to the cable on the release cable be carful not to damage the cable but it has to be tight enough to pull the cable and at the same time have some one else push down on the hood over the latch mechinsam and the hood should pop so you can open it . THEN lubercate the latch with white lithium greese this will help in a big way but you may have to shorten the cable travel because the cable is streched and is now to long . You can do this by useing cable tys on the jacket of the the cable at the hood latch between the cable and the jacket to take up the space from the streach of the cable. S o all you need to do is stand the jacket of the cable off from the hood latch mechinsam to jacket didn't streach the cable did and free up the striker on the hood latch its sticking and caused this whole problem

Need to replace the headlights in my 1988 ford ranger.

The bulbs are replaceable without removing the headlight lens. Open hood and look behind the headlight lens. You can twist the black round housing holding the bulb socket counter-clockwise and remove bulb with socket. remove bulb thru collar. Install new bulb (DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS PART WITH YOUR FINGERS). Reconnect.

I need to purchase a block heater (so I can plug my car in) for a 1992 chevy cavalier..where do I go or how do I find one

They can be gotten at any auto parts store. There are 2 types. For one you have to remove a frost plug in the side of your block and it screws in easily. I have seen them in 2 sizes, 500 watt and 1000 watt. Just be sure you don't knock the plug into the engine water jacket. The other type is an in-line heater. It splices into a rad hose. Personally I prefer the in-line but it's a matter of preference and budget. The in-line is generally more expensive. You will need to know the diameter of the frost plug or radiator hose when you go to get one. Hope this helps.

How to change your headlamp in a 2008 gmc acadia

Open the hood and look in the area behind the headlight itself. You will see the wires running in to the light through a collar. Turn the collar counter clockwise and remove the assembly. Remove the bulb and plug in the new bulb and reverse the process to replace.

How to replace headlight bulbs. How to access

Locate where the wires go into the headlight on the engine side. You should be able to find the locking collar. Turn it counter clockwise and remove the bulb at this point you should just have to unplug the old bulb and reverse the process to install the new bulb.

Hood release handle will not work is there a way to pop the hood on my daughters 2002 chevy cavalier manually?

Hi,

Thanks for using fixya.

Sorry but for security reasons (to avoid parts or car theft) there is no way for you to pop the hood manually. You need a mechanic to have this fixed. This problem is caused by wear and tear in the hood release mechanism or a snapped hood release cable line. I hope this helps.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Attach hood prop rod 2001 Ford Focus

First you will need to get a hood prop bushing from pobably your Ford dealer or you can get one from a salvage yard. You may also need a hood rod attchment. In order to attach your hood rod on. In order to allow your hood to close without the rod interfering with the closing of your hood. This can either be obtained at your dealer or salvage yard. Then you will need a 4or 5 foot poll in order to prop your hood.So that you can place the bushing in and also hood attachment bushing. Both bushings snap right in. You will need to take your hood rod and place it in the hole of the bushing the hood rod should have a short bend at the bottom of it.Like an L or 7 the L shape should seat it self into the bushing. In order to erect the rod to hold the hood up.Or in order to attach it on the hood attachment. Before closing the hood. The hood rod bushing for extending your hood rod.In order to hold your hood up.Goes in the side of the inside frame of the body to the rear of the passenger side of the car again it just snaps in. And the hood rod attachment goes towards the front of the passenger side and it also snaps in.It's located horizontal of the headlight. The hood rod bushing is a 2 sided little round shaped plastic bushing just big enough for your hood rod to fit through. And it is usually white. And your hood rod attachmewnt is usually black.
