SOURCE: fuel leak

This part is a vent solenoid to the EVAP system. The solenoid is controlled by the PCM & vents fuel vapors to the charcoal canister. If fuel is leaking here you should first make sure your vent in the gas cap is not clogged. This could cause a vacuum in tank & possibly lead to your problem, or the solenoid may have been damaged when the tank was removed & replaced.

SOURCE: how to replace fuel filter?

if you can't find one, it might be that either it doesn't have one (as some cars) or it might be located inside of fuel pump assemply (inside fuel tank) but that's a longer story :)

Fuling problem, gas backs up in filler and cuts off, hard to fill with fuling cutting off every 3-5 seconds.

That would be your carbon canister. You will need to replace that to fix your problem. It will be somewhere between your fill opening and the gas tank. Look for a line running from filler tube that would be it. Also you may have an access hole for your fuel pump in trunk, if you do, you can probably see the top of it in the direction of your filler tube. Hope you find it. Shouldn't be to bad, but that is your problem.

How to replace fuel pump

Empty fuel tank, support fuel tank, remove straps from tank (you'll probably have to replace those). Remove fuel filler neck from inside fuel door or at tank, drop tank, remove wire clips and fuel lines as necessary, remove fuel pump, put new pump in. Installation is reverse.

What can i do to fix the problems of po440,441 and 446?

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Please allow us to assist you.

You have a verry common condition; we see this quite often.

The codes you mention are usually caused by one (or a combination) of the three things that follows.

1. You do not have the 'factory' fuel tank cap fitted to the car; 'Aftermarket' fuel caps do not seal properly, and the leak of thefuel fumes under the cap will light the light.

2. The o-ring that seals the cap to the fuel filler neck is worn, or otherwise compromised, which will also allow the fumes to escape and light the light.

3. There could be rust on the filler neck tube, which would not allow a tight seal between the cap
s o-ring seal and the filler neck.

I would recommend replacing the fuel cap with a factory replacement, and inspect the filler neck sealing surface for rust buildup. If you see rust, a replacement filler neck will be in order.

Thanks for choosing FixYa fo assistance today.

Change the fuel pump 1997 chevy fuel pump

the fuel pump resides within the gas tank and removal of the tank itself is required to reach it will need some tools and a jack a 2x4 gas cans a syphon hose to syphon off most of the gas to make it easier a chisel a hammer a jack and jack stand for safety reasons and a bit of patience and mechanical ability /1st i would disconnect the battery + for safety syphon off as much gas as possible , raise the vehicle and use jack stand remove the drivers rear tire , use penetrating oil on the 2 bolts/nuts to the tank disconnect either the filler neck or at the hose and filler pipe but be careful not to allow dirt to get into the tank , loosen the 2 nuts /bolts and get the jack and 2x4 under the tank and remove the 2 nuts./bolts keeping the tank up by jack remove out the way the 2 straps and begin to lower the tank ..1/2 way down reach in and disconnect the power as well as the lines into the tank to allow you to getthe tank down without breaking the lines going in {this may be the hard part just a note }
once the lines are disconnected lower the tank and watch the filler neck while doing so ,once the tank is on the ground bring it out from under the vehicle and remove the retaining clip with the chisel counterclockwise to remove it careful not to bend or disturb the float the pump is now visable as well as the filter to it remove and replace it the way you removed it .........replacing it is the exact reversal of the procedure
