No engine available in any Ford Explorer uses a timing belt. The cams in all avaiable engines are driven by a chain, this chain has no specific time or mileage recommendation for replacement and in most cases lasts the life of the truck.

What is the cost of changing spark plugs and cables on a 2007 Ford F-150 V8 4.6 engine?

I understand it is about $400 just to do the plugs. The cables are now the coil on plug type and may not require replacement. This job is iffy for price because there is a high frequency of these plugs breaking in half requiring special extractors to fish out the broken pieces. I know about the extracting process costing $70 per cylinder.

It is a job to be handled by experienced Mechanics and well worth the $400.

1999 ford expedition - needs a timing belt, but mechanics keep telling me that it has a chain and not a belt. I just need it done and want to know stuff like - how much time it takes, how much it cost's,...

No engine used in the Expedition has a timing belt, they all have timing chains, timing chains never have to be replaced unless they fail or the engine is being rebuilt. On this engine replacing the timing chains for each of the two camshafts (2) cost about $500.00

Timing Chain

With the book time not sure but your timeing chain is self adjusting so if it is that you would need to replace it. Not hard to do yourself, if you know how but if not don't try you maynot be able to start it again. I can tell you it would be a couple a hundred bucks for a mechenic to do for you, but if it brakes it will cost a lot more because it puts everything out and you need to start from scratch basically
