I put a new thermostat in but still no hot air. I think the heater hose control valve is staying closed.

SOURCE: Temperature Control not working on 1999 Ford Explorer

Sounds like your temperature actuator is not moving or your temp door is broken. On max a-c ,coolant is shut off to your heater core allowing only cold air in.

SOURCE: heater

thanks for those suggestions. i did have a total radiator flush and tank replacement done 1 year ago on my 2002 ford taurus. after wards the mechanic let my wife know if i had any problems i might have to do with the heater core. i also dont get much heat. and when i do it usually is because we are at 30-60 miles per hour. it is slow to heat anyways. my thinking was heater core because of the gunk i had before it flushed. i did put radiator cleaner in and ran for a long while. i did a back flush and the water pump squeals but no leaking. i did take hose off of the tank on radiator side and blew into it and the pump quieted down. when presurized the flow from the tank is working fine. i just dont know if it is the heater core or the pump or the valve? as i was reading this article the tests of the hoses were the same. i know it is a long process to replace heater core and that is why i am on here is to get to a site thats free to get instructions on replacing the heater core incase these other techniques dont solve my problem. if any one out there has info where i can go i would be greatful. my wife can be like a heater blowing cold to warm air. not very pretty.not to mention the time to replace the heater. do i have to take something apart to access the vent valve to see if it is working?

Ac blows hot air comp is running

Make sure that the tubing around the accumulator is getting cold.
If not, the refrigerant may not be charged up.
Otherwise, the vacuum motor for selecting cold air may be not working correctly causing heated air from the heater core to be routed to the interior of the car.

Do you hear the vacuum motors working when adjusting the heat to cold selector? or changing the thermostat temperature if so equipped?

Heater does not blow hot air

you might need to change the thermostat.. when the thermostat isn't working correctly it prevents the hot engine coolant to circulate and give you heat.
