SOURCE: cranks but wont turn over

you know. i took it to a mechanic and actually.... The timing belt cut the Crank Shaft Censor... So it was the crank shaft censor again. The wires were routed wrong from the first mechanic that "fixed" the car.

SOURCE: Check Engine Light - P2181

Hi,first thing your cambelt and tensioner should have been replaced 13k miles ago,it would pay you to replace the water pump at the same time as they are known for impellor failure = cooling system fault=P2181 code, hope this helps.

SOURCE: Oil Pressure Light Comes On after 10 min of Driving

You may not have put the right amount of oil in your car, your oil pressure sensor could be faulty, or you may have a leak.

By revving your engine, you're increasing the pressure and thus turning off the light and making the sensor think that it's at the correct pressure.

SOURCE: 1998 Saturn SL2 engine light

Possible Causes
The following are malfunctions that could cause a rich condition:
^ Fuel pressure too high. Perform fuel pressure test.
^ Leaking fuel injector(s). - Perform pressure leak down test.
^ Vacuum leak around the MAP sensor grommet.
^ Oxygen sensor contamination.
^ Restricted exhaust or air intake.
^ Fuel Vapor Canister saturated with fuel.

IMPORTANT:
If the front oxygen reading voltage is above 600 mV and the rear HO2S is above 600 mV all the time, the O2 sensors are probably not
at fault.

SOURCE: My 89 Toyota pickup idles too fast in cold weather

I would have a look at your coolant sensor, if it's reading the wrong temperature, it will cause a idle problem. If you can, get a scanner on it to verify it's operation.

I have changed both oxygen sensor and spacer also the coolant tempature sensor and the check engine light is still on in my 2005 Audi Quattro 1.8t what else could be wrong?

P0420 means that the catalytic converter is operating below efficiency threshold. Normally, you only get this code if both O2 sensors ARE OPERATING PROPERLY. If you change the O2 sensors and still get the same code, it's an indication your catalytic converter needs to be replaced. But before you replace it, ensure that everything else in the engine is operating properly, so that whatever may have damaged your current catalytic converter doesn't damage a new one.

Obd code: p2058

You will need a scanner that can read live engine running system data to see what is going on in the fuel control system. You can buy this type of scanner on eBay for about $100.00 Look for this "OBD2 Live Data Scanner"

1999 Ford Contour engine light is on. Engine light came on for second time today. Reset this a few months ago and it seemed to be fine until today. The car seems to run fine at this time. Both times...

A possible culprit could be your O2 sensor (Oxygen sensor in the exhaust manifod or piping). These are usually good for about 80K to 100K miles. When they fail or start to deviate too far from their baseline readings they can cause the check engine light to come on. Driving on the highway at higher speeds would result in higher exhaust temperatures than typically are encountered during in- town driving so this could explain why it only occurs on at higher speeds (which equal higher engine loads of course). You could buy an engine code checker or take it to a shop and have them read the error codes for you to narrow it down and/or confirm my O2 sensor idea.

I get two codes saying #1 o2 censor and map censor runs but no power and rough idle???

O2 Sensors get replaced at 100,000 miles,just
the front 2 closest to the motor

I guess you wouldn't know that from any owners manual
or anything else, if your not a car guy ,as they say

80% of all O2 Codes are from Vacuum Leaks

You get a lot of ignition coil misfires ,even without codes
on fords, that can set an O2 Code

Your codes could be of some value & then maybe not

All you can do is go over the entire vehicle & catch up on
Preventative Maintenance & look at Data & work the codes
you do have

When you come on this site provide the engine & the codes

I was driving my 06 Dodge Magnum at approximately 60 MPH & the Check Engine Light comes on. What could be my problem(s). Gas cap is properly secured...

It sounds like an O2 censor, If it happens when your around that speed it could be the map censor or the 02 censor. You need to go to a garage and have them hook it up to find out which 02 censor is causing it.

Nothing to do with valve control but o2 sensor should be replaced and also sounds like the engine is misfiring when gas is applied, this may be caused by a bad coil or sparkplug.when was your last tune up?, i would replace sensor and also make sure there are no other codes , even check for history codes.

1995 Chrysler Cirrus LXI 2.5l,O2 censor #2 comm fail

The #2 O2 sensor should be found "down stream" from the catalytic converter. When you crawl under the vehicle, follow the exhaust pipe from the engine to the catalytic converter. Right before the converter, you'll see one of the oxygen sensors. (That's number 1.) When you follow just past the catalytic converter, you'll see another one. (That's number 2, the one you're looking for.)

The role of the #2 O2 sensor is to make sure not only that the #1 sensor is actually doing its job of maintaining a 14.7:1 air/fuel ratio governed by the computer, but it's also making sure that the catalytic converter is not only present, but also that it's doing its job as well.

This isn't a very expensive part, it's easy to find, and will require an O2 sensor socket to do the job. Make sure you don't use any grease on the new sensor! It can actually render it unusable and cause your check engine light to come on again.

That reminds me...When you change out your #2 O2 sensor, in order to turn off the Check Engine light, you'll need to take it somewhere such as an auto parts store like Advance Auto Parts, who have a scanner to connect to your car's computer and clear the fault code. Otherwise, your computer will have to count a certain amount of ignition cycles before it determines that all is well with your emissions system.

Good luck, have fun, and I hope this helps! :)

1996 olds achieva check engine light remains on. Already replaced both oxygen censors and catalytic converter but the light remains on. Scan tool was placed on the o2 censors but it show "no activity".

What were the codes???
Try this, turn the ignition key to the on position and pull the ECM fuse out for 10 seconds, then place it back in and start the car.
The car may stall and let it, just restart it the second time and things should be fine. It's just the ECM leaning the Engine and Transmission.
The check engine light should be off and go for a test drive. If there is a problem the check engine light will go back on after you travel over i believe 5 MPH.
Re scan and replace or repair fault in drive train  system.
