If you have the digital dash the button marked E/M changes it from english to metric and back.

I don't have a digital dash, the only thing that is digital is the fuel reading that is in Liters, and the temp in degrees C. Where would the E/M button be located?

The button is only on models with the digital dash. According to wiki-answers there is a wire under or behind the ashtray that is used to change the display. You can do an internet search for the details. The connector could be behind the bottom cover for the steering col. The connector wires are black and blue. Connected is for metric and disconnected is for US.

SOURCE: 1990 deville, replaced ecm, fuel pump, filters,

I had same problem in my 90 deville. Drove myself crazy, I replaced the sending unit in the tank with a new fuel pump. I also had to replace the fuel pressure regulator, which sits behind the rail system. It worked for me.

Hi I own a 1990 Cadillac Deville 4.5 MPI recently the catalictic converter became clogged so I removed it replacing it with a straight pipe then it ran like **** so replaced spark plugs checked contin

First I should warn:: straight pipe can get you in trouble with the law. But what has happened is your car uses a o2 sensor to monitor the flow of air in the system. By removing the converter you have disrupted the flow and now the engine computer is receiving the wrong readings and telling the fuel system to enrich causing spark plugs to fowl. You will have to return the balance to correct the problem or change the chip in the computer.

Trying to find out how much oil the Triton V-10 takes when I do my oil change? I cant seem to find it or anyone who knows

It should be listed in the owners manual, but because of different oil cooler setups you may have to do the change yourself and add oil until the correct level is established..... for the first oil change.
Most likely 7 liters, but start with 5,run the engine to fill the oil filter, let it sit for 5 mins and recheck and fill to full.
Note the amount needed for next time.

1990 deville, replaced ecm, fuel pump, filters,

wow...BIG problem...I'd say you have a bad ECM - maybe you hooked it up "hot"? otherwise, check all grounds for secure connections.
Good Luck

Sending unit for the fuel gauge is not grounding correctly or is bad. Temp sensor needs to be replaced.

Overheating

i remember trying this. if your water pump is faulty. while the engine is off, spin the radiator blade. if it spins, then your pump is out, if it stops immediately, (it has a cluth of sorts) it's ok. also use a lower degree thermostat, like 160 degrees, then it will open sooner.

Stalling when engine temp reaches 160 degrees

Here are my theories

Idle Air Control valve (IAC) - allows a small amount of air to pass though throttle body at idle since the butterfly in the throttle body is closed at this time - if this doesn't open the vehicle will stall

Air Intake Temp Sensor - Helps correct air fuel ratio by measuring the temp of the air coming through the intake

Oxygen Sensor - Largest determinate of air/fuel ratio after the vehicle almost reaches operating temp which is approx 160 degrees

Coolant temp sensor - Largest determinate of the air/fuel ratio from cold up to the point when the oxygen sensor takes over

EGR Valve - 5.2 Liters are known for these failing, they redirect a small amount of exhaust gases back into the intake manifold for re-burning (emissions thing). Sometimes they get stuck closed and allow for too much exhaust gas back into the manifold. But usually this would cause very poor performance as well as shuddering and stalling

Use what you know about your condition and what these common fail items are and see if any of them sound like the problem
