Colt Club cab speedo not working, what can be wrong?

Three things. If it is only the speedo, it can be either the dash unit (unlikely) the wiring between the instrument cluster and the speed pickup sensor, or the sensor itself. The sensor is usually located on the gearbox near the final drive shaft. If you can find it, check it with an ohm meter, it should have a resistance of around 90 ohms, but any reading less than infinity (within reason) usually indicates a good sensor.
If other instruments also don't function, check for a fuse.

I am trying to locate the speedo sender unit on a Peogeot 406 HDi 2002 model, can anyone describe were it is?

It will be located in the gearbox. If you follow all wires leading out of the gearbox and look for a set which is leading to a unit which looks like it might easily be removed from the casing, then that will be the thing you are looking for, your sender unit. Here's a green coloured, non original one. Check the nylon gear end of the unit. These are said to strip commonly on those cars. 11_4_2012_11_31_15_pm.png

When i am running at 40 kph the car will just stay on 40 kph, so whats the problem

Hi Chito,
You may have any one of a number of problems
1) Is the thermostat working correctly, so that when the vehicle has warmed to operating temperature the idle speed returns to 650rpm or is it idling at 1200rpm? If the idle is too high that will result in what you're describing.
2) Check the cable from the gas pedal to the throttle body to make sure it isn't frayed and sticking.
3) Is it the road speed which is being maintained or is the speedo becoming stuck...?If that's the case replace the cable or the sensor sender unit fitted onto the gearbox in the case of it being electronic.
4) Have a scan carried out by bridging between 'T' and E1....Turn on the ignition and watch to see if there is a code which is flashed out on the engine check light....The orange one which shows an engine....If the flashing is continuous its fault free if it flashes with intervals, there's a fault....Four flashes and then one will show the throttle position sensor needs resetting or replacing....

Au Falcon speedo stopped working but odometer still works

More than likely one of the gears in the speedo is slipping on it's shaft. I have a Mercedes with the same proble. I doubt that this is a fixable problem short of replacing the unit. Contact a speedometer shop in a major metropolitan area and see what they say. If you live in the country or suburbs you're porobably out of luck.
