Question about 2001 Chevrolet Prizm
Thinking its an electrical problem....maybe with the security
Usually if the car has a factory anti-theft system it will not crank if there is a problem with that system.
You may need to check fuel pressure and see if the pump is running after you crank the engine.

Most commonly with these cars the security system will do this if the battery is "drained" while trying to start the car. ie: a low battery that is too weak to turn the engine over. Usualy the power options & accesories will not work if this is happening.
To fix it you will need to ensure the battery is charged, you then disconnect the battery negative cable for about 1 minute with the key out of the ignition. reconnect the battery cable & start the car normally. Everything should be back to normal.
Let me know if there is anything more you need for this concern.

Is the Security light flashing??? If so, the security system (passlock II) is ******** off the fuel because the car thinks it is being stolen. If the security light is flashing, leave the key in the "on" position for about 10 minutes and it will stop flashing. Then turn the car off and try to start like you normally would.

sounds like your engine immobiliser fuel cut off is activating.try taking battery teminals off,re-connect and re activate your immobiliser fob the usual way,**** it will re-set itself,& or your fob battery may need changing,it,s anti-theft cut off that is your problem.good luck.

It sounds more like a degraded wire in the ignition system. The wire itself separates inside the insulation, when it is hot. As it cools, it will go back together.
