its not getting any power at all. no noise, no clicking, nothing. it is stuck in 4wd now and has been for a week. what puts off the positive power to the switch?

  • Josh Dec 07, 2012

if it is just a grounding switch, then what causes the light on the switch to light up?

  • Josh Dec 07, 2012

then what would be the cause of the switch not lighting up? is there another way to disengage the 4wd?

  • Josh Dec 07, 2012

where is the transfer case control module that controls the 4wd communications coming from the switch?

Start with the simple and check the fuses and replace any one that has gone bad. Pay attention to the 4WD fuse and replace it is it has gone bad.
Thank you for using fixya and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your Blazer running 100% again soon.

94 Silverado, not correctly disengaging 4hi

either there is a vacuum leak from the transfer switch to the front axle actuator on the inner fender well--down a cable into the front axle --most likely it got stuck and it's front axle is LOCKED in
? in 2 high is the front axle indicator light on then ---my solution is good ---if not ? did the indicator lights work in 4 hi / 4low ---when you put it back in 2 high the lights should all be off
if it's acting that way and the lights don't work ---I don't know right this minute to tell you --sorry

I despise GM --and Ford ---will no longer them ---nothing nada ever
I have a Blazer ---my opinion completely faulty from the factory --everything

I had this on my 2002 blazer (4wd 4dr 6cyl) about a year and a half ago. I found two things out. First, have to try shifting out of 4lo while in neutral with foot on the break. It seemed to work better while on a small incline (like waiting to put the boat into the water, not on the ramp but the somewhere shortly before ramp).
I finally decided to try to replace the neutral safety switch after much reading online. It worked and has worked perfectly since then. The shops I took it to told me to put in a whole new motor for about $600. I think I got the safety neutral switch for about 50ish. I have a pit in the garage so it was pretty easy to get under the truck to the transmission and remove the existing switch board. I then just attached the new one and plugged 'er in.
Hope it helps, good luck.

I need to know where the actuator for 4wd on a 95 blazer gets its vacuum from.. anyone know where it runs to?

well the vacume starts from the engine, goes down to transfer case, then back up to actuator, then i believe back down to transfer case, than to switch.

Nuetrual 4wd option

Push button 4WD has no neutral option. It is either in 2wd, 4hi, or 4low.

99 Blazer-push button 4wd not working

Make sure that all 4 tires have the same tread on them, if one or more of them are different, then the 4wd may not engage. I had the same problem with my blazer, I changed only 2 tires at a time. The front tires would rotate faster than the rear ones, the gears in the transfer case won't line up right.
