Question about 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS
Why wouldn't you have had the current drain diagnosed
to find out the problem?
Was the Alternator tested & found to be bad or either
battery found to be bad
We can't guess from the internet
The vehicle should have been properly
diagnosed & resolved long ago.
There are 300 or more people on this site a day,
who apparently don't know how to find any repair
shops or dealers that can resolve anything at all

The easiest thing to do is to check the generator. If you have a voltmeter, check the voltage across the battery terminals while the car is running. You should get a reading of approximately 14.9 volts which means the gererator is working. With the engine off, check the battery voltage, it should be 12 volts. if it reads less (say 9 or 10 volts), the battery is not holding the charge and needs to be replaced. Also make sure you have good CLEAN TIGHT connections between the battery terminals and the leads. Sometimes a loose connection or oxidation between the terminals and the connector causing a poor connection is to blame.

Did they test the output only, 13.5 to 14v if it was all that was tested there are two other possibilitys that the alternator needs testing for Voltage regulation which will fry a battery (over charge and cells collapse)or the diodes have failed which will flatten a battery overnight.

I have had a similar problem with mine. The repair shop is telling me there is oil seeping into the alternator and shorting it out. I am going to soo if I can put some sort of shielding around it to prevent this.
