At extremely low temperatures, engine movement may pull the throttle cable out of the guide mounted on the rear wall of the engine compartment on some 1993-94 Altimas, within the Applied range of V.I.N.s (Figure 1). If the end of the cable housing remains out of position, this may prevent the throttle from returning to the idle position. The driver may experience abnormal engine idle speed or, while driving, the vehicle may not slow at a normal rate when the gas pedal is released. This could result in loss of vehicle control and a subsequent crash. IDENTIFICATION NUMBER: Nissan has assigned Identification Number 94V-035 to this Campaign. This number must appear on all communication and documentation concerning this Campaign. NUMBER OF VEHICLES POTENTIALLY AFFECTED: Approximately 206,000
NOTE: IF YOUR VEHICLE IS PRESENTED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND THE REMEDY IS NOT PROVIDED WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME AND FREE OF CHARGE OR THE REMEDY DOES NOT CORRECT THE DEFECT OR NONCOMPLIANCE, PLEASE CONTACT NISSAN SERVICE AT 1-310-532-3111. SOURCE: how to change a fuel pupmp in a 1994 nissian
once you have access to the fuel pump, there is a cover that comes off...usually 4 bolts, then you will have access to the gas tank. Nissan is great for fuel pump replacements, you don't have to drop the tank. anyways, once the access panel is removed you will see the tank, and the wiring that goes to the fuel pump. the pump/sending unit is held in by 8 or 10 small screws. once he cleans the area he will see this easier. these can be a pain so tell him to take his time and get a good grip on the screws so he doesn't strip them. be careful removing/installing, these are fragile items. good luck with this, its real easy and you will be satisfied that you did the work yourself. let me know the outcome.

It sounds like you have a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor) it is an easy fix, and it is located on the throttle body. Just follow the air intake hose back from the air intake box, when it reaches the throttle body, you will see the TPS sensor. It is held on by 2 screws and will have a plug in.

Your idle air control can be of non operational,a good throttle body cleaning will help you , also a open EGR pintle that didnt close properly that leaks vacuum into the engine can cause the rough idle
