Question about Toyota Cars & Trucks
After 240K miles, my truck runs great still. Love it but worried about how long it will last with original transmission, etc. What maintenance is needed at this juncture?
Same thing youv'e been doing, assuming you did anything
other than break down maint
Do you not have a log book & game plan, you used for
decades for all vehicles?
Just go thru the entire truck, that is IF you do ALL your own work
Can't pay someone to do what is required on any vehicle
Not what their there for

The 2001 Camry 2.2 has a timing belt.
Recommended change interval is 90,000 miles.
There is no good reason for putting the replacement off, as the belt may be stretched slightly when it nears the rec replace interval, and your mileage may suffer because the engine is not in proper "time".
If the belt jumps time or breaks, it will NOT damage the valves.

Lok in the trunk on the left side, behind the carpet for a small plastic box with a bunch of wires going to it. Look to see if there is brake light powe coming in with the pedal depressed. If so, and no power is coming out, you need to order and replace the "taillamp failure sensor".

I've found the bolt that the alternator pivots on to be not much fun. A small palm type ratchet has been helpful. Here's an online manual's alternator section: http://myweb.dal.ca/is353832/93fsm/charging/3generato.pdf
