Question about 1989 Ford F 150
First have the car / truck at operating temperature then ck level within the the range bar on your dip stick, ( looks like a criss cross pattern at the end of dip stick, fluid should be in that range if not add trans fluid as needed maybe 1/2 to 1 qt at a time unless you see no fluid on dip stick add full qt and recheck.
