I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins, The AC fan will not turn on, but the amber light for the compressor does go on and I can hear the AC clutch engage. At first the fan would run for a while then turn off or just run at the slow speed even if the fan switch is on full. I checked the 10amp HVAC fuse and the AC clutch relay and all fuses are good. I think it's the AC control panel. I have no diagnostic tools to do any more investigating into this problem. What do you think I'm looking at as far as cost? Any ideas? Thank You! Could this be a strange way the AC system is telling me to recharge the freon?

SOURCE: On my 2007 Dodge 2500

there is no relay in that box that is called the tipm or totally integrated power module. that module is controlled by a computer and should be checked with a scanner to see if you have a code for the a/c. i m having the same problem i have been told it could be low freon but can not get the clutch to engage to check the high and low pressure. Also read where it may be the diode in the clutch on the ac compressor if you have a multimeter probe the compressor a good compressor will read somewhere between 3.5 and 4.0 anything else and clutch needs to be replaced. other possibilities may be the high or low pressure switch on the line. on myh 2006 2500 diesel it is located near the plug for the compressor on bottom side of motor. hope this helps.

the fan clutch being connected back stock is critical to the air conditioning system as well.. if the fan clutch doesnt work properly, the ac compressor will self destruct. mine did 3 times before i discovered my clutch was bad. if you have to replace the clutch, spend the extra money and buy the clutch from the dealer. i originally bought one from a very reputable aftermarket parts dealer that i have never had an issue with parts purchased from them, and then later ended up buying one from the dealer. the ac compressor is ok to buy from any good retailer, but from what i have heard the fan clutches for the diesels(viscous clutch) as well as the ones for the gassers are best bought from the dealer..

How do i engage the ac compressor clutch to charge the ac system

Turn the interior fan to lowest speed, and depress the airconditioning button.
You don't actually need the engine running to charge the system.

The ac in my 2006 dodge 2500 gas engined truck does not blow cold when the engine is at idle. when running normal speeds the air gets cold

start by cleaning or replacing your in cabin air filter. check to see if your AC condenser fan is turning when the AC is turned on. Make sure the front of the radiator is not clogged with bugs, mud, etc. Check AC compressor relay-make sure the compressor clutch is turning the compressor with engine at idle. lastly check for proper refrigerant charge.

My AC in the truck will not blow at all. The compressor kicks on but there is no airflow. Just started this morning its an 06 cummins

Your fan stopped working . It is located under the dash on the passenger side. There will probably be access to it w/o takling anything but the bottom cover off. Your problem will most likely be the resistor. Which I believe will be located on the top of the fan casing.

1999 dodge ram 2500 5.9 cummins diesel. clutch fan left handed thread or right handed?

if you are looking at the fan from the front of the truck put your wrench on and turn clockwise. works good if you have a long enough wrench and an air hammer to hit the wrench.

Most likely culprit is the blower control module/ resistor. It is the part that controls the blower motor speeds.
