SOURCE: EGR Valve Cleaning on a 1999 4.3 Silverado

If it is not just badly clogged, the intake does not need to be cleaned out. If you want to clean it out then take some brake cleaner and spray it in there and wipe it with a rag. I have never seen someone have to clean the intake due to not being clogged. Just my expierence I would just change the EGR and go from there

SOURCE: I cant find the egr valve.

Its right in front of the engine as soon as u open the hood On the left side. It has one electric cable connected on top and a pipe with the diameter of a dime at the lower side running to a lower section of the engine.

you should clean the egr first and see if that helps.

its going to have a build up of carbon and sometimes it will be so restricted that your car cannot run.

How much to fix the P0401 egr problem in a 2001 mitsubishi mirage LS with over 100k miles on it?

A code P0401 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
- The DPFE (differential pressure feedback EGR) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
- There is a blockage in the EGR (tube), most likely carbon buildup
- The EGR valve is faulty
- The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vaccuum

Possible Solutions: In fixing this code, it is quite common for people to just replace the EGR valve only to have the OBD code return. The EGR valve is not always the culprit.
- Use a vacuum pump and pull the EGR valve open while monitoring engine RPM's & DPFE voltage. There should be a noticable difference in RPM's with the EGR open
- Clean out the EGR valve and/or tubing to remove deposits
- Check the voltage at the DPFE, compare to specified values (refer to a repair manual for your specific model)
- Replace the DPFE sensor (with a good quality / OEM one)
- Replace the EGR valve

Sounds more like the EGR valve sticking. start with cleaning the EGR valve with carb cleaner and inspect it to make sure it has great movement and no binding. The other issues also could be a worn out and stretched timing chain.

Here is a link that may help you address the issue your having with your Camaro. It the instruction for you to retrieve your DTC code and what they mean.
