The kick down cable is for shifting gears high to low. there is no kick down cable on your car. you are looking for the shift linkage

NO. These models do not have warnings on the transmission failure. There is warnings only when the transmission encounters electrical component failure, overheating(some cars), low fluid. Usually the warning is the O/D flashing light, or a seperate transmission light. Hopefully this helps

SOURCE: TRANSMISSION KICK DOWN CABLE ADJUSTMENT

On the cable where it conects to the bracket is a plastic "C" clip. pull this clip up or out( depending on how it is situated now. Take the throttle on the carb to WIDE OPEN. hold it there and push the clip back in to hold the setting. Check the throttle linkage to assure you are getting WOT when you depress the foot feed to the floor. DO NOT DO THIS WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. Running and engine at WOT with no load is BAD. Good luck glad I could help.

2003 sable how to adjust transmission kick down cable

What do you mean by the kick down cable? Are you having trouble with the transmission during shifting? If that is the case, you may be having trouble with the clutch. The gears might be having trouble transitioning.

Car wont start and rolls backwards even though it apears to be in park

Sounds like the shifter is stuck in reverse or drive since it will roll.
I would set the parking brake and have someone watch the shift lever on the transmission to see if it and the shifter inside is still connected.

My impala wont turnover or crank. doors wont lock or unlock. and the parking inducator dosent show that it is in park.

I have a 2002 impala in the shop getting the transmission rebuilt. I had a simular problem with it. There is a cable that goes from the gear shifter to the transmission. I had to adjust it get it to go all the way into park. It was like it was in between park and reverse. You may need a helper but you can apply the parking brake. turn the key to the on posisition but not running. Shift the gears and have your helper watchand see which way it travels to go to the park position. loosen the bracket that secures the cable and adjust it to push the shifter all the way to the park position and resecure the cable and see if that will let the engine start.

The 5r55e automatic transmission would only go in 2 gear. I then replaced the valve body, all 6 solenoids, internal wiring harness, and position Switch (DTR Solenoid) - The truck drives good and shifts...

My guess is the cable needs adjustment on the shifter.. seems to have slipped maybe a loosened hold down bolt..these have to be precise, good luck!!!

Can't get my key out of the ignition 2003 trailblazer

I have worked on several vehicles with this same problem and each one was a relatively simple repair with no parts involved, first off the shift interlock has nothing to do with it and will not prevent your vehicle from going into park, it is designed to work ONLY when coming out of park. The problem your having depends on the type of shifter handle your vehicle has, if the release lever is on the bottom and you have to push up with your fingers to release it, then the problem is...there is a rubber type cover that surrounds the release button, after time it becomes distorted and bunches up preventing the shifter from fully engaging in the park position (even though it appears the vehicle is going into park)if your careful you can work the rubber cover out and your problem is fixed. If your shifter button is on the side and pressed with your thumb the cable needs to be adjusted, this cables only purpose is to prevent key removal except when in park and is easily adjusted, with the center council removed, if you look at the front of the shifter base you will see 2 cables that snap into the shifter frame, the larger one is the gear selector cable, the smaller one runs up to the steering column and operates the mechanism that prevents key removal, where the cable snaps into the shifter frame is where the adjustment is done and is identical to a kick-down cable used on older vehicles with automatic transmissions, right where it snaps into the frame there will be a button you can press down releasing a spring loaded adjustment arm, make sure you first mark the arm for reference then press down the button and adjust it a little either way until it functions properly, hope this helps and good luck

2000 Hyundai Elantra Transmission problem

I don't know if I can help but as an owner of a Hyundai Elantra 2000 GLS with 205,000 miles and the original clutch and transmission I'll try and help!

I always start with the lowest cost solution first and avoid mechanics as much as possible!

Have you checked the trans fluid?
It should be changed every 30,000 miles!
Sometimes a Lucas Trans Fluid will cure - fix slippage!

Have you checked for a clutch adjustmet!
An adjustment can cure - fix slippage!

Are you a clutch rider with your foot always on the clutch?
If so you may have worn out the clutch!

How many miles to you have on your Hyundai Elantra 2000?
