SOURCE: My pontiac G6 trunk lid is jambed, the dash

there is a little finger in the latch that closes when the trunk is closed chances are that the little finger has closed but the trunk is still open... this can be fixed by looking at the latch on the lid you will see a slot with a metal arm in the middle take a screw driver and place it in the hole in the slot at the top. press the button on the fob to open the trunk while your pulling down on the screw driver the little latch should twist letting the screw driver move through the track and pop out now alowing you to close the trunk and being happy again.

SOURCE: 2001 pontiac grand prix trunk release dose not

Sounds as though the motor may have quit working, check your fuse or the relay in the underhood power center. The key still works correct? Do you hear any noise when you try the remote switches? If you do the rods may have come loose or the holders may have broken.

SOURCE: 2006 pontiac g6 trunk release

corrosion on the button?
best way to tell is to use the lock release on the FOB and if it eventually fails there, you have a problem other than the button or fob

Did you check for a loose electrical connector on the trunk lock mechanism? There was a small two prong connector that was loose on my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am I connected it and the trunk button on drivers door now works and when I get a new key fob I am sure it will work.

Trunk release fuse on g 6

You might want to read the article at the link below. It might save you some time and trouble if you are trying to figure out a problem with your trunk release system.

Where's The Fuse?

Then, to answer the question you asked, the trunk release circuit is protected by the "TRUNK" fuse. It is Fuse #22 (10 Amp) located in the Rear Fuse Block in the left side of the rear compartment, behind the left rear wheel well.
