Question about 1995 Plymouth Acclaim

1 Answer

1995 Plymouth Acclaim just stopped running

Checked the coil and it tests as good. Was told that the problem was probably the ignition control module. I don't know where this is located so I can take it out and change it.

I had this problem and thought it was the coil. I caried a spare till it happened again and it was not the coil. I thought it was the fuel pump and tested it and it was not the electric fuel pump. I thought mayby a relay going bad, wrong. It was a bad fuseable link. There is about 5 of them by the computer next to the battery and i changed it and never had the problem again! Good luck!

check spark at each end of spark plug pull every one and see if one is weak or not fireing could that could tell you if you have a bad coil clean cap and rotor contacts with light sand paper or wire brush check for moistor in cap... this will kill them dead in there tracks might just need a new rubber gasket for cap make sure you dry out and clean contacks first be for using again good luck

I have a 1991 Plymouth Acclaim - 4 cylinder. It will start and run for a while but if I make about 2 runs and come back out to start it, it just turns but will not catch. If I let it sit for about 4-5...

It sounds like your ignition coil is over heating. Was the coil replaced? Your mechanic should have checked voltage/resistance and replaced if needed since it is not too expensive and is a major part of tune-up and ignition system. You can change yourself in a few minutes and save some cash. I had the same problem and had to wait for coil to cool before it would start again. Hope this helps.

when you say coil, do you mean the ignition coil or the pick up coil (aka pickup module)? It is located under the rotor in the distributor-if you replaced the distributor (did you really?) it should have had a new unit in it, the only other thing I could guess is you have some sort of issue with a fuse or relay for the ignition.

How to repair loss of spark in a 1994 Plymouth Acclaim 3.0 liter have replaced coil and moduel

The module receives the impulse from the distributor and this can be absent . so if the coil and module is new then it is possible that the module is not being triggered on accordingly.
check this out.

My 1989 Chevrolet 1500 4x4 with a 350 stopped running. Checked the fuel pump changed the rotar cap rotar button and the coil. What else could it be?

Replace the pick up coil in the distributor, they are bad to go out. Also, while you are in there remove the ignition module and have it tested,to make sure it is good.

No 12 volts to ignition coil

on a lot of plymouth acclaims ,there is no fuse marked ignition. what I would do is check for voltage at the ignition switch. if no voltage is going thru it. then the ignition switch is bad. check the wires from switch, and turn key to accy, then check wire. then turn to run and record voltage.

Have you checked the oil level? If that's good you either have a problem with the oil pump or a sensor? FYI This is something you DON'T want to drive car until it's fixed. You can ruin the engine if you are running with poor or no oil lubrication.

Plymouth acclaim wont start,no spark,no fuel

Do me a favor and cycle the key to on, then off, then on, then off, then back to on,& leave it in the on position.(not start) Now watch & record any flashes of the check engine light. You will get a number of flashes, then a pause, then more flashes. for example: 3 flashes, pause, then 3 more, would be code 33. It will always be a 2 digit number. 2 flashes, pause then 5 flashes, is code 25. When you get 5 flashes, pause then 5 more, that's code 55 which means end of message. Get back to us with any codes that flash.

1995 Plymouth Acclaim Cylinder Head Removal

Honestly... If you are really not that good at mechanical issues you probably should take it in... Not to be mean but the head needs to come off in a bolt sequence and reinstalled in a bolt sequence with the correct torque... The passenger motor mount, exaust, wire harness, valve cover, head boltscoolant hoses, throttle cable and many more items need to be removed......Also NOTE:... slip and tuck head gasket jobs are NOT advisable and ussually result in doing the job twice over..... The heads have a tendency to warp and also crush in the gaskets over time....The head should be checked for warpage. Also a good time to do the valves and replace seals.......in the end if you are not experienced and do not have someone around that knows aboput the job at hand you may want to have the job done by a tech... For fun grab yourself a Chiltons manual and read through........

Good luck
