A fuel pump is either directly connected to the fuel tank or in some cases inside the fuel tank. You would need to consult your owners manual.

How can I remove fuel filter?

Well I was thinking this was going to be a fairly easy question to answer.

Nope.

Unfortunately the fuel filter appears to be part of the "fuel pump module" located inside of the fuel tank itself.

Here's a video showing what all is involved.

So unless you're willing and able to go through all of this be prepared to pay someone a fairly hefty sum to get it changed.

Here's a link confirming the filter is part of the fuel pump module.

Sorry. I wish it was easier.

Fuel line location?

You did not mention type of vehicle but will give a general answer. If older vehicle with carb then fuel line comes from fuel pump right on engine and goes into carb with a fairly large metal line. On anything newer there are several lines because fuel injection requires constant high pressure in system. So fuel is pumped from a pump located in tank all the way through large line down length of car to fuel rail under hood. The fuel rail has a pressure regulator and whatever fuel is not needed is pumped back to tank in second line. These lines run together all the way from tank and are fairly large diameter. Bigger than brake lines. So look for two lines coming under vehicle to top of engine.

Choking

Start by replacing the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, located on the fuel rail atop the engine (fairly simple and inexpensive procedure). If the problem persists, use a fuel pressure gauge to verify that your fuel pump is producing enough pressure and, if not, replace the fuel pump AND the fuel pick-up screen in the gas tank.

My car has no fuel goin to motor. Fuel pump works. I hear it... LOUD... could it be the fuel filter?

I would be checking the fuel pump pick up in the tank ( no fuel) as a working pump is fairly quite and becomes loud when there is no fuel to pump.

Is it hard to change a fuel pump for aford crwn vic 1988 and how long?

The hardest part about replacing the fuel pump is wrestling down your fuel tank. The pump is inside of the tank and requires tank removal. As long as you own a couple of jackstands and a floor jack, you will have a fairly easy time replacing the pump itself. This should take the weekend warrior about four to five hours labor time.I hope I could help!!! Thanks for using Fixya!!!

hi there,
this is to clear the idea, your fuel pump is located at inside you fuel tank.this is not easy job for replacement, have a precaution doing this there fuel inside your tank if you wanna do this or fix your self, you have to remove electical source by pulling out first the one pole or terminal of your battery.to prevent in any spark, using syphon pump, you can empty your fuel tank evacuate all fuel inside your tank before pulling out your fuel pump.figure showing fuel pump/ 37ecec6.jpg

1996 volvo 960 engine turn off suddenly when I was driving

it may be a fuel pump fault. Cutting out and restarting is a classic sign of a failing fuel pump.

Here in the UK the VOlvo 960 is a 3 litre car (may be a different model to the USA version of the 960) and has 2 fuel pumps. One is situated in the tank and lifts the fuel into the pipeline system. The 2nd fuel pump is located underneath the car alongside the fuel filter underneath the passenger side (UK) and gives the fuel a boost to shove it up to the engine.

To check fuel pressure, find the pipe that goes to the injectors ... there usually is a connector where the metal pipe connects to the flexible rubber pipe. Undo the connector and switch the ignition on ... fuel should spray out at high pressure .. .high pressure .. not small squirts and dribbles.

Fuel pumps are damn expensive. It could also be a sensor at fault - like a crankshaft sensor. The cheapest way to get it sorted is to ask a workshop to identify the fault for you (you can do any work required) - they can check the sensors and electrics on their computer. Changing parts one by one to try and cure a fault can work out damn expensive .... get the fault identified for you first. Its worth the money ..

I think there are still photos of UK Volvo 960 fuel pumps on my website at :
