Re: i am getting i miss on my #'s 1, 3 and 4 cyl.s
Coil pack failures are pretty common on these vehicles. If your vehicle has less than 100k miles they maybe covered under Customer Satisfaction Program no. 07M07.The repair would have to be performed at a Ford or Lincoln/Mercury dealership.

did you replace the spk plug try it on another cyl switch erase codes and try if you get a miss fire on that cyl then check coil wire to that cyl but a cheap fix replace the plug first then see what happens
no, the plug is firing. But the timing is off. the plug is firing quite a bit before top dead center on that cylinder. The burning of the fuel mixture is occurring while that piston is on its way up and is slowing it down---dragging down the whole engine. i think you should change the distributor cap and rotor as cylinder one is firing at the same time as cylinder 2or 4. This indicates a possible carbon track in the distributor cap.
Most likely you have a bad COP (Coil On Plug) .
Maybe more than one. Very common ford problem for last 12 years.
If you get a MIL Light on the dash (the wrench),check for a PO300 Code.
A PO304 would be coil #4,PO306 #6 Etc.
Cyl 1 thru 4 on pass side
Cyl 5 thru 8 on driver side, front to back
Also hills cause a hi engine vacuum and thus a possible EGR Valve going bad. You can unplug the vacuum lines and plug, to diagnose that issue.
Also leave the EGR disconnected if your working on coil issues. Just note the MIL light will stay on all the time, and remember to check your 300 codes if you feel a hesitaton or miss.
hi from uk i assume you have done all the above work correctly? and the leads from coils are correct firing order 1 3 4 2 ? CAMBELTtiming set correctly etc as you say this has happened since cyl head renewed and miss fire is on Nos 1+2 cyl's this normally suggest now after all work u have done and assume compressions are ok ? i had such a fault on a customers mini some years ago who had done exact type of job as you described this fault turned out to be the inlet manifold gasket had split between cyls inlet ports and resulted in missfire on 2 cyls adjoining on removal of manifold the gasket had been damaged whilst reassembling new gasket cured missfire which had caused weak mixtur on both cyls ie on induction more air being drawn via cracked gasket on each cyl and as your engine if injection same problem?? might be worth checking?? hope this throws some light on the problem?
Hi ! if I'm right that is a code po300 ,when that happens its usually 1 or more cylinders thats missing ,but may just be 1 cyl. it give multiple cyl misfire because the computer has not yet determined which cyl it is ,for starters with vehicle off pull a plug wire off each plug 1at a time and look up inside the boot of the wire and look for a white or black almost burnt looking line ,that burnt line is alot of times the problem its a track line from the plug wire arcing on the plug ,meaning a bad plug wire ,also check each plug you may have a bad plug or plugs . Look at the condition of the plugs to see if they might be worn or oil or coolant is getting burnt onto them ,(not supposed to be happening) try this and get back to us !
You are mis fireing on cyl 1 and 3 if you replaced plugs and wires and coil this is going to be a fuel injector issue or valve issue. See if you can swap the injectors with known good cyl. and see if it changes. Or have a shop do a fuel injector service on it to see if it helps. It may be to late for the fuel injector service.
