SOURCE: Where is the expansion valve
Your suburban Don't use a expansion valve.
It use a ORIFICE TUBE, that made the funtion of the expansion valve.
OK.... If you follow the THIN line coming from the EVAPORATOR to the CONDENSER, you will found.
A JOINT COPLER. just remove and in the part going to the evaporator INSIDE of the line is the ORIFICE TUBE.
Remove and put the new one.
I Know this answear your question.
Thank you for use fixya.

alright, since the computer sees the transmission slipping, it maximizes pressure to try and compensate. with the 1870 code it is referring to the lockup clutch in the converter. I have seen colleagues remove the TCC (torque converter clutch) valve from the valve body and insert a stiffer spring to remedy the situation, but i have only seen it work effectively once. It almost always resulted in more problems and headaches wither immediately, or a week down the road.
i know its not what you want to hear, but a rebuild will probably be your best bet. hope this helps.

Is the 1-2 shift high also? When you had the valve body off did you check the screens on the governor solenoid and the 3-4 shift solenoid? These tend to plug up.

There are many things to consider with an automatic. Check that you have installed the kick down cable and spring correctly. If the kickdown is stuck or the spring is holding it in the wrong direction this will cause your problem. Insure your 8 pin plug is seated properly into into the sillinoid connector. Also check and see if any transmission codes have been set. Hope this helps.
