Question about Land Rover Cars & Trucks
Replaced the purge valve and pulled canister to be certain it was working properly. noticed that there is a place at the side of Vent control valve that takes a plug in but there is no plug in the engine bay that would fit there.

Did you check the block box connected to the vent solenoid? There's a hose that comes off it that appears to run nowhere, that's the fresh air vent. If it's blocked it won't allow air into the system which will set the trouble code. If that's clear, the vent solenoid itself is bad and needs to be replaced.

A possible answer to your problem is that the Hyundai / Kia model lines have had extensive problems with the fuel tank pressure sensor. Most notably on the Sorento and Santa Fe lines. The car models have had problems with the leak detection pump. Sounds like you are describing a Sorento as this is the code they set and quickly, if so 99% sure the pressure sensor is reading slightly high at all times and setting the code.

You are right. You need the vent valve not the purge valve. The vent valve is a dealer item. Also this is a common problem and GM has released a bulletin on this that involves moving the location of the valve and running some new lines. It comes as a kit from GM, and it costs about a 100 bucks.
