The easiest way i can suggest to check for spark is to use a test light.
1. start the vehicle
2. ground the test light to the batt.
3. while the engine is running poke each of the spark plug wires to see if the test light will light up.
4. if one does not then check the plug wire for proper connection & retest it.
5. if still no light try to switch two plug wires (remember their locations) if this solves your problem you have a bad plug wire.
6. put plug wires back to the original location.
if you need to replace the plug wires & are planning to keep the vehicle i would recomend a set of Beldon plug wires ftrom napa they are life time and put your proof of puchace in glove box,if not a stand. set will do just fine.
as far as plugs you could ask 5 diff. people and get 5 diff. answers on when to replace nuless the tip is broke or the porclin is cracked. some claim to be 100,000 mile plugs but i never would. and as far as what size of socket to use. plug sockets only come in two sizes. if you have any other questions let me know

60,000 miles is the replacement interval, and when you replace them, buy plugs from a dealer. "Aftermarket" plugs do not work well, sometimes, they make it run worse.

How to change the spark plugs on my 2009 Hyundai Sonata 4 cyl.

remove 1 spark plug wire from the plug. Find a socket that fits the spark plug and connect it to the socket wrench. Put the socket on the spark plug and turn counter clock wise until the old spark plug is removed. Check the gap on the new replacement plug ( make sure you have the correct plug first). Put the new spark plug into the hole that the old 1 came out of and turn clockwise by hand making sure it is in straight, then tighten it clockwise until tight.( WARNING: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE PLUG OR YOU WILL BREAK IT). replace the spark plug wire. repeat the process with the other 3 spark plugs. Start the vehicle. If you are replacing the wires, take off 1 wire at a time, match up the size and replace the old with the new.

Good morning, I have a pickup of 96 rav4 4x4 2.0 cc engine 3S-FE, 5-door and let me know what type of spark plugs to use please, and their consumption of gasoline per gallon thank you very much for the...

Personally i donot think you need to put the four point plugs in your car. That would just increase your fuel consumption a bit as it would be burning more fuel to give u the advance pickup. You really donot need that.Put single point Champion plugs, they are really good. Then Bosch, Denso or NGK come in line.get the distributor rotor clean so that strong current goes to the plugs and its all set.On average the SUVs the size of your car would give 7kms on a litre petrol in an average traffic city drive with Air conditioner switched on.You can convert that into milage per gallon.Milage generally increaes by 25-30% without the airconditioner.

It runs rough sometimes it dies, I have tuned it up , plugs dist cap, wires rotor the computer , It has very poor gas milage .it has a 2300 with automatic trans,

have the intake gasket checked. spray carb/choke cleaner around intake gasket and if rpms change then you have a bad gasket which causes rough idle bad fuel econ

New oil change, new plugs, gas milage is down to 26 mpg, was 31mpg

Are you sure they used the correct oil? If they put a thicker viscosity oil in it then that would explain some of your loss of gas milage. Did they change the air filter. A clogged air filter will also take extra gas.

As far as overheating,I would try a thermostat but before you do anything I have a couple of questions. What size engine is in it?Can you describe a little bit about how it feels like it is running on 4 cyl. instead of 6?Just feels less powerful, but it felt more powerful before it overheated? You mentioned it just cranks over so it is not running right now? Please let me know and I will reply ASAP.I am usually on in the AM EST,but will be on a little while more tonight too. Thanks,Greg

Where is the location of the spark plugs of a 2006 Rav4 6 Cyl?

just follow the wires leading to the side of the motor. let the motor cool down before you put your hands down the side of the motor. these wires are clustered together at some point. 3 on one side 3 on the other side. in the case of a 4 cyl, 2 on one side and 2 on the other

Well you don't say what engine it has. I just had to put a helicoil in the head of a 3.4L 'cuz it had pulled the threads out of rocker arm bolt hole for cyl. #3. Car ran great afterward.
