Question about GMC Envoy

My radiator got cracked by letting a friend use my 2003 gmc envoy, I think near the reserve, they used some kind of poxy to seal it. it was running good for about a month, as long as I keep anti-freeze in it. I noticed todat it was running high, the reserve has antifreeze in it, should i pour more into the radiator?

How to purge radiator on a 2003 GMC envoy

Install a back flush kit on the engine. Connecting a garden hose to it will push any air in the block into the radiator so you can see when the air has been purged.

I just changed the oil in my 2003 Gmc envoy and the oil is dark, sludgy and foamy. I checked my coolant and it is good. There is no white yogurt under the oil cap. What could it be?

Have your engine pressure tested to see if there's a leak, if there is then its probably due to cracked head or torn head gasket and if thats the case then go to autozone or advance or w/e and get bluedevil head casket seal now listen if u do this it will say take out ur thermostat but u cant on the gmc envoy with the 4200 vortex because the thermostat is not like others if u take it off u want b able to run nothing through ur motor just leave it in and follow the other instructions to a tee ie drain and put plain water in it dont really have to use a flush kit juts get as much antifreeze out u can no big deal if u leave some in and u dont have to drain it after THE BLUE DEVIL CAN STAY IN THERE then make sure it top off most of the time its a permanent fix hope this helps

Transmission slipping on 03 GMC Envoy. what does iy mean when trans fluid measure high on dip stick?

Two things: #1 someone has overfilled it by mistake thinking they were putting oil in the engine. Yes I have seen this.
#2 The transmission cooler in the radiator could be leaking antifreeze into the transmission through the cooling line raising the fluid level. I would look for milk shake foam on the dip stick and make sure you check trans in park and not neutral.

Car ran hot and water is leaking near the passenger front tire near the finder. Is the water pump in this vicinity?

That sounds like the cooling system reservoir area. Those blow out coolant, not generally just water, when pressure forces the coolant past the radiator cap. You could have a crack or a bad gasket. Open the hood and see where all the dampness stain is, that would be a clue. You might be lucky and only have a bad hose.

How do I locate the radiator drain plug ? 2003 GMC Envoy

It is at the lower end of the radiator you my have to re move a plastic shield / on some it faces down through a hole in the support / and others it faces toured the engine it is in the corner. be careful if it is a plastic tank and don't turn it to much cause the nut in the radiator can strip or come off . if you should need any further assistance feel free to ask thank you for using FIXYA . Shuts off when the truck is idoling.

Check the coolant level in the radiator, then check the reserve resivoir. make sure the engine is cool...sometime when it gets low, you can hear it cycling more clearly...Or you have water in the heater box under your dash near the dampener....Check for leaks at all heater hose connection locations...

Why does my heater keep running after I shut my Envoy off?

I have the same problem. I have also been searching the web for a solution. I came across someone saying that it was the heater module located behind the glove department. I can't find now where i read this but it said the part was approx. $150.00. He was having same problem as us, heater wouldn't obey touch commands to turn on/off or when heater did blow it would only blow real low or real high. Like you, after turning off engine blower motor was still running even though it wasn't blowing air out.
I'm tired of paying for things that are not due to normal "wear and tear" on my 2003 Envoy. Let me know if this helps you and how you repaired it. I'll probably have to take mine to the shop but because I'm a "girl" I swear they think I'm crazy with all my Envoy complaints.
