I have no clue what the piece is. had to lift battery out of car to put in replacement lights. then when i put it back in found out that a hose became disconnected from a value like piece. its near the battery and is near the front of the car. Also turned the car on to find out that it was blowing air and the car didn't sound right. anyone have any idea of what it is? or how to fix it. oh and by the way tried to put the piece back in and it didn't fit.

If its blowing air out you are dealing with your air injection system. These consist of a air pump, air pump check valve air pump relay, and of course your vehicle wont sound right, exhaust is leaking out and it will just get worse, your fix is a air check valve the hose and also have the air pump inspected because if it frozed or is non operational,it will take out the air check valvehose disconnected from valve near battery Cadillac - 12_7_2012_4_17_31_am.gif12_7_2012_4_17_54_am.gif

SOURCE: Adding R134a

First of all have you determined if the valve you are adding freon to is the Low Pressure Side of your A/C, that is the only side and the only safe way to add freon into your system. If it is the right valve you shouldn't have a problem attaching the hose.

Where's the radiator flush valve in the 2000 cadillac cater?

Dont flush untill you have removed the heater control valve because it has a piston and diaphragm setup vacuum on the line will cause the diaphragm to expand and not close causing the valve and hose to fail no matter how tight you clamp it. heater control valve is located at rear of engine bay passenger side near heater core hoses.

Valve train ticking noise 1997 cadillac catera

The cats use hydraulic lifters. Just before your next oil change, or when you are down about a litre of oil, put a litre of transmission fluid (Dextron II) into the engine and drive it about 2to 300 miles and then change the oil and filter. You should hear the valve train noise dissappear within the 1st 20 or 30 miles.

Do not overfill!!!!!

This is assuming you have a plugged hydraulic lifter(s). If you have a worn cam or worn valve train, you need to remove the heads (both) and send them to a machine shop that does heads and re-install...new head gaskets, valve cover gaskets as well as any worn cams. valves etc....

Car really has to be worth it. At this point, if you love Cateras (I have 2 2001's), I would sell it the way it is and get a 00' or an 01'.

The 97' and 98's are not worth the trouble.......

2001 cadillac catera ebtcm removal how to

You need to remove the upper rad hose and the battery.
Then, use a torx to remove the 6 screws (hard to get at) which will remove the EBTCM from the brake modulator. You also must disconnect the two electrical connectors (the big one has a slide tab).
There are places you can send the module to and rebuild with warranty. I took a module from a 99' and installed it in my wife's 01'. Now the speedo, odometer, cruise and power steering work perfect and no TCM / ABS light.

Yes, most of the vacuum hoses are emission related, having a leak will cause what ever the hose goes to get more air than it needs, replace the hose. If the light doesn't go out, have a code scanner hooked up to the car to put it out. If there is an autozone auto parts store near you, go there, they will do it.
