Seems to me like there is a faulty wire you would have to trace wires to see if one is cut or burnt

Cannot turn ignition security light is on

If you have a FOB, and while you're outside the vehicle, try pressing the LOCK button twice. Once to lock the doors...twice to lock doors and arm alarm. Then press the UNLOCK button. If that doesn't work, possible try a different key? If THAT doesn't work, it's possible you might need a new ignition switch. However, before you run out and buy a new ignition switch, double check with your local GM dealership...explain your scenario to them...quite possible to get a different answer than I've given you. And if they're right and I'm wrong...great...at least you got your Yukon fixed!
Good luck

Do you have a part # for the #1 remote keyless entry key fob 2003 Yukon xl. Bought vehicle used and got driver #2 fob but would like to have the #1 also cause 2 different drivers and would like settings...

Here is a secret, I go to the Salvage Yard and buy them for $10.00 and reprogram them for the match the car's. When you go to the Salvage Yard, if there organized will have sets of fob keys in a box. Go though it and look for the same FCC numbers on your working Fob key and here is the instructions for you to do the relearn for your 2003 Yukon XL.
1. Close all vehicle doors.

2. Insert the key into the ignition.
3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel-continue to hold
down until instructed to release in step 9.

4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in fairly rapid succession.
5. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the
engine).

6. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
7. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
8. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
9. Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The vehicle will lock and unlock
the doors automatically.

10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously until
the door locks and unlocks.
This step may take up to 30 seconds.

11. Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional transmitter (including any existing
transmitters).

12. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming
mode.

Good luck and thank you for using Fixya, just call around the different Salvage yards if not you can try E-bay.

How come on a 2002 GMC Denali if you lock your key inside

i would say the theft module saw the door trying to be open without the door lock or fob first, once the door lock button was pushed it shut down, it new doors were trying to be unlocked in a theft manner, once shut down it needs time to reset or needs to see ignition cycle with key and read chip in key, smart system isnt it, good luck.

Yukon xl rear door won't unlock and there is no manual lock.

I fixed mine by using fine steel wool to clean the brass contacts located at the right upper door frame on the right door as viewed from the rear of the vechicle.
