Question about 1999 Buick Century
Sometimes I try to start my 1999 Buick Century Custom and the car will not start....the security light blinks and only starts after doing what someone told me to by getting out of the car and locking the driver door with the key, going to the front passenger door and unlocking, then relocking the door using the key. I have to repeat this step 2-4 times and eventually it will start. Any advice as this is happening 2 or more times a week now?

This has nothing to do with it starting !
This is what's happening , Inside the lock cylinder are contacts that read the resistance of the pellet on the key , the contacts are getting worn out . You have two options , replace the lock cylinder or by-pass it all together .
The PASS-Key II® ignition key (1) contains a unique resistor pellet which is idenified by the Body Control Module (BCM) (2). There are 15 different key (resistor) codes. Only one ignition key resistor pellet code will work with each PASS-Key II® theft deterrent system.
Ignition Key Lock Cylinder
The ignition lock cylinder contains spring loaded contacts which make physical contact with the ignition key when it is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder. This allows the ignition lock cylinder to provide the Body Control Module (BCM) (2) with the resistor code embedded in the ignition key.

if the security light is on it could be the ign lock cylinder, it has two small wires attached to it and one may be broken and are the keys the ones that came with the vehicle

SOURCE: car won't start
there should be a fuse or a relay that controls the alarm system on the car and the best way i can tell you to find out is to call a buick dealer and ask them where its located so you can pull it,i dont know where the relay for it is for sure since im not there to look at the car but im sure there is a relay for it there somewhere to disable it

I had the same problem with my 95 Lesabre. The owners manual says to take the key out, and wait 3 minutes(until the light goes off). It should fire right up.

THE PROBLEM SOUNDS LIKE LOOSE WIRING CONECTIONS IN THE DRIVERS DOOR , BEST THING TO DO IS HAVE A LOOK OPEN UP DOOR PANEL AND CHECK ALL CONECTIONS, GOOD LUCK
