Re: security light on will not start turn key to reset
If you turn the key in the ignition to the on position for 10 minutes it will reset your security light.
I know it sounds funny but trust me it works. try this first! Before you go and spend any money.

Sounds like the security system isn't recognizing the key that you are using. Are you trying to use a new copy of a key in the car?
I am going to need to know the year, make, model, sub model and engine to be able to offer any more advise. This problem will most likely need to go to someone with a scanner to access the security system (dealer or a decent repair shop should be able to take care of this issue).
Let the car sit undisturbed for 10 - 15 minutes, then try to start it. Check the owners manual if you have it. Sometimes, on various cars letting them sit awhile will allow the system to reset itself. On others sometimes rapidly turning the key from off to on, without turning to start 3 to 8 times within 10 seconds and then on the last turn to the on position leave it there until the horn chirps, at that point turn the key directly to start, or turn off first and turn to start. If all this fails, a GM dealer can reset the system.
Hello: Will try to give you instructions: Attempt to start car, leave key on (security light flashing) let set for 10 minutes, After 10 minutes security light out. Turn key off for ten seconds, turn key on, let set for 10 minutes, turn key off for 10 seconds. turn key back on let set 10 minutes, turn key off for ten seconds, the engine should now start and stay running.
you can get a new key from a dealer and program it yourself by leaving the key on for ten minutes and the security light turns of then you turn the key to off for ten seconds and turn it back on and the security light will come back on for ten more minutes you do the turn it on and wait process 3 times and the light will go out the 3rd time and you can turn the key off for 30 seconds and it should start after that. some times they will work after the first ten minutes.
i don't know if this fixes your problem or not but mine is doing the same thing. they said to have both keys. take the first one and turn the car on but don't start it. leave it on for ten seconds and then take out and insert the second key. and do same thing. take second key back out and insert first key ten seconds after removing the second key and then try starting the car.
Very common problem on these cars. Do you have another key you can use? Try it. If not take the key ou have been using and turn ket to the on posistion. Leave it there on for ten to fifteen minutes. The computer will relearn the chip code on key. When light stops blinking you know it is done. Turn key to off wait ten to fifteen seconds and turn key to on position, Security light may blink once or twice then it should stop.. Try to start vehicle. It should start. If it doesn't then you may need whats called a new passlock and possibly key reprogramming. Which can only be done at the dealer most of the time. Hope car starts with the first procedure. Let me know if it works.
Turn key to run, click the engine but do not let it start then relax back to the run position. You will now see the security light on
After about ten minutes light will go off.
Turn key off and back on to run within 5 seconds
Repeat above procedure for a total of 3 ten minute relearns.
the process takes about thirty minutes. in three ten minute key cycles. here is how you do it . make sure that the battery is fully charged. step on parking brake pedal and leave it down this will keep the head lights off. turn the key and try to start it then leave it in the on position. you have to leave the key in the on position for ten minutes. you will see the security light on. after the ten minutes the light will go off then turn the key to the start position. turn the key all the way back to the off position and count to three. then try to start it and leave the key in the on position for another ten minutes till the security light goes out. you have to do this same process three times to reset the security system. sometimes you get lucky and it will start after the first ten minute cycle.
if you have the dash manual it will tell you how to restart it.i know gm cars you turn ignition switch to the on position for ten minutes engine not running.when security light turn off the engine will start up. but jaguar might be a different tactic.
I had this same problem with my 2002 Monte. It is a very cheap fix about $100(If you do not got to the dealer $800) The car thinks that you are trying to steal it so you have to turn the key in the on position until the security light goes off and when the light goes off dont try to start it. Turn the key to the off position and then try to start it. It should take about ten minutes. I know its frustrating cuz I've been there.
