Could be a problem inside the transmission or a loose mount.

It is inside the transmission. It is called a reaction sun shell, it strips out, which causes the grind noise your talking about.

SOURCE: ignition control module on a 2001 Chevy Impala

There is a switch relay that plugs behine the ignition switch cylinder. You would have to take apart the dash console to take it apart to replace it.Also helps solve a few problem on the 2001 chevrolet impala, with heat gauage not working and a/c not blowing cold air anymore.Replacing it, should fix the problem with that.

SOURCE: 2001 chevy blazer no

You are grinding the transmission. This needs repair immidiately before the transmission gets any worse. You need to take the vehical to a repair shop. Whatever you have to pay now is a lot better than what you will have to pay if the transmission gets shot. Hope this helps! Please rate 4 thumbs up!

Connect vacuum gauge to test. Also, use 6 feet of hose one end in ear and other poking around under hood to listen for leaking vacuum.

When i put my 2001 chevy impala in drive it clunks and wont drive . WHY

You may have damaged the cv axle when it got hit, lift the passenger side of the car up off the ground and spin the tire while in (N) see if both joints of the axle are spinning together. If not the joint of the axle is broken.

2003 Chevy Malibu LS. The problem is an intermittent clunking noise that happens during turns, especially when going in reverse and at slow speeds. There is a single clunk during the turn, and another...

Most likely you have a bad drive axle, each drive axle has 2 universal joints and when they get worn they make a big clunk sound. Especially turning or going from forward to reverse.
