SOURCE: locate crank sensor on 1990 buick century

Hello, the crank position sensor or (CPS) censor is located directly behind the harmonic balancer (or fly wheel at the very bottom). The sensor is located on the right side of the harmonic balancer when facing the front of the motor. You must remove the harmonic balancer to replace the sensor. You must also re-align the sensor with 30 thousands of an inch tolorence, or your car may idle rough or may not start. I own a 1990 Buick Century and just replaced my CPS sensor last month. There is a trick I learned to reinstalling the new sensor. Let me know if you need that information.

SOURCE: How to change a water pump on a 1999 Buick Century 3100?

the water pump on the 3.1 isnt to hard to change ...

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Partially drain the cooling system into a suitable container.
  3. Remove the drive belt guard.
  4. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts before removing the drive belt. This should help keep the pulley from turning as the bolts are loosened.
  5. Remove the drive belt. Remove the water pump pulley bolts and remove the pulley.
  6. Remove the water pump bolts and separate the pump from the engine front cover.

SOURCE: how to replace a coolant level sensor, 2000 buick century

The coolant level sensor is located on the radiator. If you are looking at the engine from the front of the car it will be on the left side. There will some kind of clip holding it in the radiator. Removed the clip and pull the sensor out. You will lose coolant so try to swap it out quick or drain some of the coolant out. Once new sensor is installed, install clip to keep the sensor in place and reconnect the wires to the sensor. Crank the engine and make sure the coolant level is full. This should correct your problem.

SOURCE: 2000 Buick Century gas gauge reads full all the time

You're either looking at a short in the wire that goes to the fuel sender, or a bad fuel sender. If it was just a broken wire, it would read empty instead. The fuel sender is a permanent part of the fuel pump, so that has to be replaced as a unit.

Code p040 and service light came on what can I check

Have you replaced any 02 sensors and since have gotten this code ? It usually means the cars computer is not getting the correct info from the sensor. This happens often when people go to a parts store and get the cheap sensor there instead of getting the proper one from the dealership.

1992 buick century 3.3 what should the fuel injector ohms be reading or the voltage should be reading. i checked mine 4 of them are reading in the 20s voltage

Ohms should read 11 to 15 at the injector pins. Power at the plug should be battery voltage. 12.5 with key on. Use a noid light to see if the injector wires/PCM is firing the injectors. the light should flash when cranking the engine over.

Will crankshaft sensor make 2003 Buick century with 3100 (3.1) engine not crank?

Crank sensor only tells the ignition modual what position the motor is in. If it's not cranking you may have a starter solenoid or starter going bad, bad battery, or other electrical issue, could even be a bad ignition switch.

How to reset security on 2000 buick century

If the anti-theft module does not read the right chip in the key, the engine will not crank.
That would be a problem with the chip in the key, the sensor in the lock cylinder, or the module.
If it cranks but does not start, its probably not the security system.
