1992 dakota v6 stalled while driving, won't start and not firing ?

Added gas, even in carberator. On interstate, man stopped to help, he put screwdriver in something and said it was not firing. Battery new and it cranks but acks like no gas. no problems before.

SOURCE: 2000 Dakota 3.9 V6 wont start just cranks, has plenty of fuel

I agree that it's probably the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS).  Without the pulse from this sensor, you vehicle will never start.  Sometimes water from a leaking water pump will run down onto this sensor and cause it to fail.
You can go to MSN Auto for your vehicle and under the "Reliability" tab  you will see the same thing regarding the CPS (listed under Engine issues).

SOURCE: 1992 olds 88 stalls. after it sits for a half

Is the Service Engine Soon (or Check Engine) light illuminated on the instrument panel? If so, then have someone pull the codes and post them back here. Autozone will do this for you at no cost.Caution: don't purchase any parts after reading the codes on their recommendation! If no codes, then suspect either a bad crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor. There are other possibilities too, but these are primary. I have seen MANY bad crank sensors do exactly what your describe without setting a code.

1996 dodge dakota, used bad fuel, won't start

Pump the tank dry of the fuel using the electric fuel pump, just jump the fuel pump relay to get the pump to run and remove the supply line to the injectors and attach a hose. Use extreme caution around gasoline, no sparks, ground the container to the truck.

I have a 1990 Crown Victoria LTD, it started sputtering at low speed. Then stalled and won't start now. Any ideas?

You will have to start a diagnosis. Starting with the small test then on to others. 1. Getting gas to carberator 2. Pull coil wire and verify firing.

I have a 1992 dodge dakota, it runs really rough, stalls at start up, have to keep your foot on gas, when at a stop it stall, when driving at cost it will buck and back fire through carb, (not all the time...

You need a valve job and probably the bottom end done also. it runs crappy at first because the cylinders are full of oil from the valve seats leaking after a while you have burned this oil and it runs better, Don't waste you money on an ECM. Broken valve springs , leaky valve seats, if you know all this you should know you need to rebuild your engine and stop wasting you money, by hoping it's something else. I'd sell it and just by another low end driver, because it isn't worth the repairs.
good luck

I have a 1992 dodge dakota 3.9l v6 when im driving the motor will just cut out. sometimes it will start right back up and sometimes it will take like 15 to 20 min before it starts back up. no check engine...

One way to confirm if it's a spark problem or fuel delivery problem is, when it quits and won't start, remove air intake hose at throttle body opening and spray some WD-40 ( 2-3 sec. ) into throttle body, then try to start. If it fires up momentarily then stalls again, have fuel pressure tested. The WD-40 acts like quick start and if that fires the engine over, then you have spark, but not enough or any fuel.
If that doesn't help, no start at all even with WD-40 sprayed in throttle body, then I'd think real serious about changing the hall effect pick-up ( pick-up coil) in distributor, if you have that style distributor. It is located under distributor cap below rotor, it looks like a round black plate in shape with wiring and connector at end of it. Remove cap, remove rotor, and lift it out, unplug from connector. Replace it in same position, then re-install rotor, then cap. They were a pretty common problem in earlier years. Engine would just quit anytime after it was warmed up, then sit for 15-20 minutes, then restart and go for a while and do it again.

1988 olds cutlass 2.8 v6 4sp trany seems to stick in overdrive. trany fluid looks and smells fine. also shifts fine going up.

Hello,
I have a Olds Cutless Ciera 1089 with the 2.8 MFI V6, and my car was stalling more and more coming to a stop. It would always start right up, but as soon as I put in back in drive many times would stall again. You can try to prove that it is the Lock up clutch converter solenoid which is inside of a side cover on the drivers side. I unplugged mine and the problem went away for good. Per a GM dealership shop tech, said It won't hurt anything for a while. He said it wasn't urgent to fix a sticking solenoid, for weeks or months, but should fix it sometime. You might lose some of the gas mileage from unplugging it, no lock up at upper speeds. Old school cars never even had these, and they were plenty problematic in GM cars, of getting stuck or staying sticky. Hope this helps.
