flush the heater out with a hose.   the fastest and cheapest.   if that dosen't work then replace the Air blend actuator motor.  $59.99 at Auto Zone  part    # 604-101

Sounds like you need the heater core flushed or a new thermostat.Sounds like you needed the valve replaced but have since developed a new problem.

SOURCE: would the heater control valve malfunctioning make

Heater control valve malfunction will not cause engine to overheat unless coolant is leaking externally...Overheating going down the road can be the result of a few different things...Partly clogged radiator...Insufficient air flow due to possible fan problem...External coolant leak...Make sure fans are operting properly and have cooling system pressure tested for leaks...Gaining and losing heat on the inside of the vehicle usually means system is low on coolant but you must find out where coolant is going

Change heater core water pump one pipe get hot

try some comma's?
my wild guess, is you are trying to fix a dead cab heater, right?
and if so, can be caused by 5 things wrong. total.
1 engine coolant not hot (180F or more)
2; fan dead.(cab heater fan)
3:or core , coolant path blocked. (seems you)
4; core exterior core blocked with leaves or pin needles. (sucked in)
5: optional core valve , stuck closed. (cable bad, etc)\

one pipe hot , means ,? core pipe 1 is hot, and other is dead cold?
this flow blockage , bingo !

if pipe 1 is 180F and other is 120f this is normal the heater is heating air in the cab and is dropping due to this heat exchange. (normal)
so why not do the 2 year full flush service now. (skipped i bet)
core hoses:
remove the 2 hoses on engine side, never core side (easy damage)
then back flush both hoses. with a garden hose.
if there is a valve there, test it and make sure it's opening... and free flowing.
and that both engine water ports are open too, from heater hose
to engine. (yes, they pack up too)

No hot air coming out when the heater is on only cool air. I was told it is a heater control vavle problem. Is it true?

If it"s not over heating, then either the blend door under the dash board is not operating right, or it is the heater control valve. Have the valve checked first, if it's not opening there isn't any coolant getting to the heater core.

Heating on ford puma

Hi Scott
Have you checked the valve at the bulkhead under the bonnet where the water pipes come from the engine to the heater matrix. You should feel the pipes are hot when cars running at normal temp, if they are not hot after the valve check the feed (wireing) if thats ok the valves got to be at fault.
Good luck

Van has new rad on all pipes are hot including the pipes into the bulkhead although the out let pipe is warm, temp gauge in dash working normally, have flushed out the system for blocks everything coming...

YOUR problem could be either the air valve that opens the heater from hot to cold and is worked by vacuum and if the pipe is split then you wont get the heat etc.
also change the thermostat and open the heater to hot before bleeding the coolant system..

Heater blowing hot even after changing bulkhead valve no air-con

Theres a door under the dash that directs air over the heater core if it is broken then you will not get heat but you will still have a/c.To fix it you will have to take dash apart.

A6 2.4 heater problem

mcdevito75 here, Your speaking about the Heater control valve, this allows hot water (antifreeze) into the heater core so as too give you heat, (hot air thru the dash vents). This valve could be sticking, you can try to tap on it with a wrench see if it helps. Before you just change it check all associasted vacumn lines to and from this valve, also check all vacumn lines to the firewall and at the intake manifold for bends, breaks etc.
