Question about 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Cold morning, warmed vehicle up for 20 mins or so, no less, it went into reverse at first then it seemed to slip in the snow. It then started to give a "whirl" sound as if it was spinning the universal or something. I put it into forward thinking maybe ice. Back into reverse it got worse and only moved me 10 feet then I stopped. Went forward again with no problems or bad sounds. Now when placed in reverse it will only "whirl" and not move. Putting it into 4 wheel drive does nothing for it. No movement. Most of the whirl sound comes from the rear end.
Reverse requires more hydraulic pressure to hold it in reverse. Maybe you have a partially plugged filter that the thicker, cold fluid can't get through. The whirr could be the pump in the trannie being dtarved for fluid due to being plugged. Otherwise, you may have a bad clutch or band for reverse that requires a trans overhaul. good lcuk.
