Question about 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Open Question

Hesitation between 40 and 60 mph

My truck has about 180k miles and seems to start up fine. The truck runs fine at lower speeds, however as soon as i reach 40 mph the truck begins to hesitate in a jerking manner. Its almost like the transmission cant decide which gear to go in. It especially does this while going up an incline at speeds of 40 mph or higher. Has anyone had similar problems or have any information that could help me diagnose this problem. Thanks

SOURCE: transmission on my 2000 chevy k2500 4x4 pickup

your transmission has possibly been rebuilt with stronger springs put in. No worries. have been running mine for along while without any problems. Better this than slipping, but it is a bit annoying.

SOURCE: downshift hesitation?

Sounds like a plugged catalytic converter or in rare cases muffler. This will set codes but try this; remove O2 sensor closest to front of catalytic converter, it will be noisy but drive again, if performance is better, suspect plugged catalytic converter, replace cat and reinstall O2. Also check air filter and mas air flow sensor. Have had some luck carefully cleaning sensor with throttle body/air intake cleaner after removing from vehicle with key off. Hope this helps ! SOURCE: Engine surge at 45-55 mph on 2002 Silverado 5.3l engine

I would start looking for a vacuum leak. Check all the vacuum lines for cracks or breakage. Spray penetrating fluid on them until you hear the engine start to stumble then focus the spray on that area until you are able to pinpoint the location of the leak. Best of luck,my friend, Dana

Your fuel pump is in the tank and the fuel pump check valve is is malfunctioning. You need to replace the fuel pump. To test newer fuel pumps like your you have to put a gage on the valve you pressed in and turn the key on and look at the fuel pressure if it goes to 50 PSI then turn key off if it drops below 20 psi with 30 seonds the fuel pump check valve is bad. Replace with OEM part from the dealer. after market part fuel pumps burn up quick. also change the fuel pump and fuel filter. this is a 4 hour job for a first timer mechanic the pump is causeing all of your problems. Let me know if you want detailed information to repalce the pump. it cost about $195.00 does it have duel tanks? if it does the switching valve may be defective as well.

Remove the mass air flow sensor and clean it.You can get mass air flow sensor cleaner at most part stores. The sensor is on the air cleaner tube that goes into the throttle body.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Ya sounds like the electric shift solenoid. Problem with electrical. Will not give you a warning. Will go bad in a heartbeat. You can try unhooking plug that gos into the trans and spray electrical cleaner on it. plug back in. Wiggle some wires and maybe find one loose or broken wire or connection and hope for the best. But its probably the tranny with that many miles. Go to Advance Auto Parts they usually scan your car for free for codes. Good luck

Seem like you need to have at-least the two front tires high speed balanced. This shaking at high speed is most likely due to the tire being out of balanced. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA
